Grrr!! Damn it! My brain isn't working today. Yes, the 195/65 is the way to go on a 14". I had to go outside and look at my car. FML.

I guess the point is, that really tall tire actually looks good filling up the wheel well/ arches. It doesn't make the car look taller really, just fills the wheel gaps really nicely. So, I would rock a taller tire on the Euro weaves myself.

I'm going to go type some more wrong stuff elsewhere on the WWW if you guess need me.

    Cheers

I wasn't trying to be a douche, if that's how I was coming off :(

I agree on the taller tire, though.

Yep, it's original. Still has the matching VIN sticker on it, too. Everything you see underneath is either the original part or original equipment/OEM.

Thanks all for the compliments. It's interesting for me to see the whole thing in a forum posting like this. It kinda gives the impression that a lot of restoration happened in a short period of time. In actuality, this effort took many years of doing a little bit here, a little bit there...lots and lots of small projects adding up to the current state. I think my first project on it in the late '90s was removing the baked-on cosmoline from the engine bay. The most recent (last weekend) was rebuilding all four brake calipers (I still can't seem to get a super-firm pedal despite multiple pressure bleeds, though....). It sure has been a fun journey, and everytime I declare I'm finished, my wife just rolls her eyes knowing that sooner or later I'll find something else to "fix."

I'm not sure if you mean the transmission case or the sheet-metal shield below it. The shield is 51711976719, part number 9 in this diagram:

The transmission case is what I mentioned earlier, which still has the numbers-matching VIN sticker on it.
