My car doesn't come off the road for winter cus i bought a $450 e30 to drive. The best part of these shitty ass cars is how shitty they look stock. No one would want to buy them, which is why we buy these non-m3 buckets for so cheap and make mostly in-expensive DIY mods, turning them into something that's old, but fresh... not fast, but not slow... and stands out as modified, but not like a civic, along with so many other reasons. Thats how I look at it though.

Realistically this thread should be the air thread, because other than mike (white325is) and the dude with the mt2 cabby no e30 can be driven static w/o pissing everyone else off on the road for doing 25mph everywhere and looking like your about to get a dwi.

I disagree, my car has been this height since 1992 and still on the original oilpan. granted, i don't daily it, but I can post a few pics of euro3's old M3 that was just as low, he dailied his, EVEN THROUGH THE WINTER at that height.

              mine again.

let's be fair here. i've seen you post yourself how little you drive your m3. not only is it not a daily, you barely drive it. so that's really a hard comparison to make. there's a HUGE difference between taking a garage queen (no insult there, i wouldn't treat your car any differently than you do) out on selected, nice weather days on roads you know are legit and being late to work or having to meet up with someone in unfamiliar territory at night in the middle of february.

every car has a purpose and it's fine, but i think the point you are making is apples and oranges.

Gotta disagree there. There are lots and lots of e30s that are slammed to shit that are static. Byron's is unbelievably low, not to mention like 80% of e30s over the pond it seems.

                      static

That red one is hot. He drove from one of the Dakotas to Minneapolis for Eurowerks last year. Static.

Exactly. I daily mine and it has way less than 3" of clearance. I can't even fit a fucking low profile jack under it without help. Sure I've scraped the oil pan on stuff (uneven roads mostly), and I don't necessarily go over speedbumps, I more or less go through them, but I still daily it.

The impressive part about the red M3 is that it's also an S52, which the pan sits a fair amount lower than the M20.

I bought my E34 oil pan new, and I'd like to keep it shatter free. I'm building a nice sturdy plate that fits relatively snug to the pan.
