Well if California wasn't so anal over nothing. What? You want to put a more efficient motor into your older car? That is never going to work. We can't allow it...


I live in Atlanta and all my swaps I roll in. Tail pipe sniffer. Pass. Roll out. It SHOULD be that simple. My 87 doesn't require emissions anymore and is swapped. Still put a large cat on it though.

Wow, Atlanta's emissions are WAY less of a process compared to Forsyth County, if thats all you have to do for emissions.

What process do you have to do? My friend lives in Forsyth and has an 88 325iS and a 92 325i. You roll on the dyno. Pass sniffer. Done. I was with him both times he did it last time.

Oh and they use a mirror on a stick to see if you have a device that looks like a cat(not everyone does this).

Yeah that should be it for older models. Plus the mirror rarely happens.
