So both my cars were down the other week, and I had some time to burn one morning waiting for a friend that was running late. Having the camera in the car with me, I decided to take a few pics of Saul Castro's former Dakar Yellow E36 M3. Unfortunately Saul, Chris Castro's father, passed away last November from terminal pancreatic cancer. In the year or so that Saul had the E36, he truly loved it! I never saw him drive any car he owned "spiritedly" in the 6 years that I knew him, until he got this E36. 
This car was previously owned by our friend Eli (ELIBIMMER) on this forum, and we were fortunate enough to grab it from him a little over a year ago. The car had no motor in it, but came with a strong OBD1 S52 and ZF, which we installed a few weeks after the purchase. Initially i was supposed to keep the car as my daily, but I didn't want another car that I would turn into another project as my DD. On top of that I saw how much Saul liked the car from the day we went to pick it up. He absolutely loved the color, and even though the paint is in poor shape, he had planned to repaint it this year prior to passing away.
Nevertheless, the car stayed in the family and will be painted later this year. Chris and his family will be keeping this car, as it was one of their father's prize possessions. Other plans for this car are to either turbo the current s52, or to swap in an LS motor into it. It will also receive some custom fender work to clear all our low offset sets of wheels.
So this is a small tribute to my dear friend Saul Castro, who is no longer with us. He always be remembered for the great person that he was, and we will continue his legacy as we continue to grow his former business. RIP Saul.
