New Member & My New E30 325i Vert

Hey everyone, my name is Chris. Ive been lurking here for a couple months while doing research and looking for an E30 to buy as a project & semi-daily driver. This site is pretty awesome and full of useful information!

This is my third BMW. I've had a Dinan Stage III E60 545i in the past and currently drive an E60 M5 with a ton of mods. That car has turned into the company car in recent months so there's always a ton of mods or customization going on with it that really generated the need for a daily. Thus began my hunt for an old school E30 vert. I plan on building this out too...should be fun.

I looked around SoCal for about 2 months before finding this one. One very frustrating thing is the crazy pricing. Many people simply wanted way too much month for a 23 year old car w/ issues lol....some serious offenders were even within this forum. But ultimately it all worked out well.

She's a 1987 325i with 126k miles on the clock. I bought her right outside of San Diego (worth the trip down) from the original owner. They gave me a folder full of service records dating literally back to oil changes in 1987....how crazy is that? The only issues i have to address is a leaking oil pan gasket and a right rear hub thats starting to whine a bit. The body is in great shape, the paint is flawless w/ no fade. It apparently was garage kept and the top was replaced five years ago. Crack free dash, but the interior seats are pretty rough so I plan to address that too. The price was $2,900...but i was able to haggle it down to $2,000. (i still dont see why guys are asking $3,500 for cars in lesser condition lol but maybe they know something i dont).

    Here are some planned mods:
updated suspension - i plan to lower it....i need something more sporty i love taking corners hard

new steering wheel - considering the Nardi woodgrain wheels

new shifter know - on the fence between woodgrain or an ///M shift knob

new seats - either reupholster the existing sport seats or i may install these E46 ///M3 seats that i have a line on

new wheels - thinking 17" BBS (will 18s fit?)

new breaks - i want more stopping power, the ///M has spoiled me

thats it for now, thanks for looking!
