    Aus E30

I moved to Australia for a year and picked up a e30 to drive while i"m here
    1989 318i m40 auto sedan

Overall the car is a bit rough for me but the outside looks presentable, the dash is cracked really bad, cloth seats are trashed, motor runs well enough but under the valve cover is scary(mad sludge)
I couldnt pass it up for $1000 after looking at 5 other ones for twice as much that had rust and terrible paint. I bought it from some really nice people too. So far ive put the 51mm strut tubes with 325i springs and cut a coil off them, added vented dics on the front(rear was already disc), new control arms, m3 offset bushings, new tierod ends, got an alignment, a set of tires and odometer gears. Just got the roof rack off Gumtree last week(its like Australian craigslist) for $40.

When I first got it I stripped the interior to pull out some really awesome wiring

Im hoping to score some seats for it soon and maybe throw an m42 in it with a 5 speed since im working a shop now so I have tools to use now. A good dash is impossible to find here so ill prob throw a cover on it

E30 stuff is much rarer and more expensive here too
    We're out there in here.

Welcome, I like the colour on this it's not a common colour in Aus. Finding a m42 in Aus though isnt the easiest.

I'm trying to find a non thrashed m42 for my coupe & it's becoming impossible hard or will cost stupid amounts of money

Just get an e36 m42 and swap all the e30 stuff onto it(inlet, pulleys, loom) and use the gearbox and clutch you have just get the right size pilot bearing or...

sell me your e30 m42 stuff and do a 6cyl swap and get it engineered

Maybe, if I find a solid m50 or m52 im considering swapping it. I'll let you know if i go ahead with the swap. There is an m42 engine in qld at bmwreck that is a runner only reason I havn't snapped it up is im saving dollars

Selling an E30 at a decent price in Australia is tricky... i did it 8 years ago and got $4k less than i wanted. Thankfully I knew that when buying the one i just got a few months back, so i didn't do any quick koves unless the price was at a fast sell price.

So start advertising before you want to :-) And keep the car clean as a whistle!

                          Thanks for the input

But Ehh I feel it's always easy to sell a registered car for $3k no matter what it is. I got a lead on an e36 m44 with 5speed for a good price so I may pick it up.

I'm looking for an e30 m42 loom and ecu if anyone has one? 5speed driveshaft and pedal box too
