How much distance did you have between you and the car in front of you? I tend to have a car length just incase of instances like this. I know that as soon as your struck from behind your foot tends to come off the brake. Hence why I asked.

Not sure. Came to a complete stop and 2 seconds later I was hit. Sometimes I take my foot off the brake, sometimes I don't.

Dang it bro that sucks! That guy is an Hijo De Puta!!!!!! What pisses me of, is the fact that your car is fucked and the one that did the damage walks away like nothing. If it was up to me, I would make sure that the person who was in the wrong pay for the car out of his pocket! and I bet people will be more aware of their surrounding! I was rear ended a couple of years back with a Honda Accord that I had just finished paying off that same month and I had to get back into another payment over that shit!

I have no clue what the technology behind it would require, but all drivers phones should cease to function when the vehicle is in motion. Fuck hands-free, etc. Drivers should drive. Period.
I know this wouldn't cure all auto collisions, but it would certainly reduce the frequency.

damn man that really blows i know how you feel ive been rearended the same situation while i was driving my old dd 2001 subaru 2.5 RS and it was coincidentally the day i was going to sell it after someone came to look at it interested in buying it.. i was furious knowing it was toast right when i couldve had sold it! super gay for sure and my back and neck are still effed but shit happens and you move forward.. your car is still rebuildable though man its not totally over if you give it a second chance thats what i ended up doing with my subie and i made it even more beautiful
