Eds: The NWS can be reached at
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Pacific storm brought rain to San Diego County today,
but the storm did not pack the punch that earlier had been forecast.
The system is expected to deliver less than an inch of the wet stuff, said
National Weather Service meteorologist Steven Vanderburg.
"The front is just falling apart," Vanderburg said. The brunt of the
storm stayed north of San Diego County, he said.
Scattered showers are possible into the evening. By tomorrow, conditions
should be dry and cool, Vanderburg said.
With 9-foot-high surf possible, the NWS issued a high-surf advisory from 8
a.m. today to 2 p.m.
San Diego lifeguard Lt. Nick Lerma reported that the waves were 3-5 feet
high this afternoon.
Temperatures tonight will drop to the 30s in the valleys, 40s along the
coast and 20s in the mountains, Vanderburg said.
