Alright.... So.... I got the neon and have been ehhhh with it since day one. Did some work to it, got it lookin decent, but I'd rather own a BMW as a daily fun car. So I've been looking around. I've wanted a Mini since I saw them re-introduced. Looked at a JC Works edition at the dealership and I was sprung. The price tag was what held me back. So.... just browsin the paper and I see a 03 Cooper S. Hmmm.... I think I might hop online and look. 21xxx miles, power this that and the other, clean title, US SPECS, hmmm.... whats wrong with this picture? nothing. Asking 18,995. Lets see a blue book on it..... HOLY SHIT. 23k? Well shit..... ok... lets blue book the neon with 9xxx on it. Hmmm.... only 8500 at trade in. Hell.... I owe that much. Do I get out of this loan and lose $5800 and get into something I really would much rather have or do I stick with it and wait for something better to come along? My payments are dirt. I over pay every month and I'm about to up it another $130 bux a month so that it will get done even quicker. I don't wanna do that if I can just start making payments on this..... I wish I wasn't so damn sleepy and could make a solid decision. Fuck I need a beer.

The neon was loose this past weekend on the autobahn..... spun it on some salt in an entrance ramp. WEEEEE.....
I think you meant lose.
I'm not asking this for the "bashing" of the neon. I'm asking for sheer monitarial value. I don't think I'll end up doing this since I'd be losing so much money on the value of the car in such a short period of time. 5800 is more than most of your e30's could sell for. If I had a sizeable down payment I could throw at this car I'd be more willing to just chalk it up as I "max was stupid" loss and take on a new payment. But as it looks payments would be right at 400 a month.

But you can't touch the complete package for that. CF stuff every where, bigger wheels yada yada..... The JCW package is honestly a sick little car.
*LOL* You guys and your hating on the neon. Its beaten many an e30 honestly. Even beat a couple e34's on the strip. Its not the fastest or best looking car out there, but it was fairly inexpensive and its new... well... as in I bought it new. So I'm not complaining about the car. Its just not really what I wanted. We wanted an SRT-4, but they didn't have any. In order to get one of those I'd have to pay an arm and a leg over here. The goal was to pay off the neon before I get moved back stateside and pick up something US spec and BMW. This would get that out of the way.
One problem I'm worried about is that I still have nearly 4 years left here. I buy this car here, and put 60,000 miles on it between now and then. Then I don't have a BMW that I'd want to take back to the states with me. I'd have a high mileage 03 and I'd want to trade it in on something newer.

A friend of mine just got an 05 cooper S, and I got to drive it. Let me tell you that is one real fun car. Power everything yada yada, leather seats. The build quality really impressed me, and the driveline seemed real nice too. I'd say if you think you can swing it, definitely go for it. If you didn't test drive it yet, go do it, it'll make up your mind pretty quick i think.

buy a brand new 550i, come on max, you know you can do it, just look at all the other soldiers running around in the new 5ers!! get rid of the neon, and get something european, you can always get a neon when you get back to the states, but if you get a euro while you are here, you can hook it up in a way thats not done in the states and on the cheap!
stop kidding yourself on beating BMWs with that thing. Toms buddys SRT-4 with all that aftermarket crap barely beat my car by about .1 second. where you racing the M10 E34s!!!! ha ha ha ha
