I believe he has enough experience with e30s to know about an m3. Not all of them are trouble. Besides, its all for fun, and I'm sure he's got the money for it anyways.

because the car is dirty, and missing a front bumper, and has a KOOL honda muffler--- it must be poorly maint.???? I own an M3, and if he drove it home, and it drove good, what is sooooo expensive to maintain.???? the timing chain---(MAYBE) no one here knows any maint history on the car.

please elaborate for me all of you M3 gurus out there what is so much more expensive to warrant not spending money for that car. THE ENGINE RUNS. I am not saying that an M3 isnt a bit more expensive, but outside of the motor, its really not that much more for parts.
I stay stick with what you got, and do it up your way, and take whatever amount of time you want on it, hell, own it for 5 years and drive it 5 times like me!!!

What post has said "don't spend money on that car"? That car is beat. It's gonna be a money pit. If he wants to blow cash on it, that's his perogative. That being said, I can already tell you it's gonna be a hole.

Congrats on the car. Youre gunna love it. But it would be wise to check out some of the posts on s14.net and see where it takes you.
If i were you I would:
-check compression ASAP.
-Flush every single fluid there is.
-Maybe change tires if its been sitting for too long.
-Drop the oil pan and investigate whats in there.
-Most likely change or upgrade the timing chain tensioner. ( E36 M3 )
-Check all hoses and replace if needed.
-Maybe run techron fuel injection cleaner if the cars been sitting for a while .

other than these bits, i think you're pretty much set.

Granted you drove the car home without a hitch says a lot. Im sure you checked the car out mechanically, and obviously its not in the greatest physical state. But like you said, re spray, front bumper, etc will make the car look like it has 50,xxx k on it. Re-finish the wheels, and you'll be set. Obviously you know that once you get into it there will probably be more, not so obvious, flaws. But seeings how you can easily dump 20k on a "mint" ///M i think by saving 18k your going to be well ahead of the game. Great find and yes, iam also very jealous of your great find.

not trying to be a d**k-- really. It just seems like everyone is trying to piss on his parade. Im sure anyone on this board would be soo happy to get anyshape E30 M3. it is kinda the "king" of E30s right??? and people here just try to point out the worse-- but so is R3V- and I know that.
I guess I was on a mission to defend the "car" cause I feel sorry for it-- hell, mine was an abused one that sat outside under a tree for years, so I feel for the car.

i would love and m3 but truth be told all e30s have the same potential
