My names Anthony, from Australia & this is my 318is I bought as a project. Picked it up having not run in 8yrs "bent valves" took it home & started tinkering
So I thought I'd make a build threat for my project e30, I suck at forums & this is going to be a slow project as money is going to my mortgage so I have to save & work on it slowly.
got new wheels yes not a priority
with its daily sister
Put it in the shed & started pulling it apart
& found this
Not going to be a quick project to finish, but making progress slowly & going in the right direction.
got these for a steal from a sketchy area in Sydney expected to be shot but wasn't so got home with a smile
& put the rear of the car back together
got the handbrake, new rotors, fresh pads & rear calipers refitted
How it started
Rebuilt calipers
& all the heat shields have been cleaned up, the whole underside of the car is fresh stone guard black
As it sits so far:
New control arms
Akg bushes throughout
Fitted pop rear windows
rear stone guarded the whole underside of the car
got my fitting kit for the Massive street brake kit
braided lines fitted
rebuilt rear calipers
Next on the list:
Koni shocks
GE coilover set up
Whiteline sway bars
custom fab'd swaybar mounts similar to the ie set ups
fit my seats
I need to re trim the rear seats & headlining
& the car needs to be resprayed
My mind isn't made up yet with the motor as the head is toast, looking for M42 parts in Aus is impossible 98% of 318i have the single cam m40
possible options are:
find an m42 head rebuild the motor & hit JakeB up for his m42 turbo kit
go the m30b35 as a easy swap, finding the manual box to suit is hard in Aus
m50b25 with a ZF box - more money but seeming to be the easiest to source parts for
