    Intercooler from ebay

    Bar and Plate Intercooler Core size: 550mm x 225mm x 64mm
    Overall Length 710mm
    57mm(2.25'')or 64mm(2.5") Inlet and Outlet
    Maximum Pressure: 45psi

Should fit in there right up front nice and high so will get airflow through the kidney and front upper grill area. Boost pipes should be able to sneak in under the headlamps.

Here is what was in there from a sierra Rs500 been split in two and new end cans. Not a bad core but placement with total lack of air flow behind headlight still got both lamps and double thickness the rear core would have been getting hardly any airflow not that the front core got much through a few 10mm holes drilled in the headlight support. Loads of timing being pulled due to high intakes.

Can you share any info on your new intercooler? I'm curious.

havent got the otis manifold asmy turbo is a T3 flange. Got a bar and palte intercooler for behiind the kidneys to replace the stupid toaster that sat behind the headlights. Need to modify the suspension turret so my downpipe will fit as there isnt quite enough clearance now the engine is sitting back from position 1 standard 333i.

Did you go with Otis' manifold? Will be interesting to see if it fits RHD cars.

as awesome as this car is, I'd hate to have one. Sure it's uber rare etc, but I'd lose so much sleep at night worrying about it

Manifold is combination of two parts that have been flipped and a turbo flange added.

Parts numbers are 1788712 back cylinders 1788715 front cylinders

Here are a couple of the front in its resting position albeit with the lug rubbing on the front of the tunnel.

Well got it back in. Wasnt too bad getting it back in after I got rid of the balance bar and subsituted the front connecton with a block and tackle. The Balance bar I was usng was too short to get enough tilt on it. I was biased to the rear of the car to get the angle but then it wouldnt level up to get on the mounts. Got it into the rear most holes on the e30.de brackets without any bulkhead bashing. Just needed a very minor tweak (just for piece of mind)with a bar around where the water pipe is on the back of the head. However I do have a question about the wings on the back of the block, this is now fouling on the bellhousing. My drivers side (righ hand drive) had already it grounded off, but the passenger side is fouling on the bell housing. Also my gearbox is being a bit of a pain as it is seems to be slightly rotated so when putting the mounts on it is under a lot of pressure, so much so one mount has decided to delaminate.

Will get some pictures up of the front end clearance that I took before I realised I had a problem at the rear end. Post these up later today.

    Going back in

No it is not custom. If you still plan to run your AC. I would run the intercooler that sits be hind the kidney grill.
