    My Daily 1986es

Whatsup Guys, I'm Jesse and Im super new to the e30 scene. Ive been into aircooled vws for a long time and just recently decided to shop for a new daily driver. I searched craigslist and here and other bmw forums and came across some nice cars. None worked out until I found this 86es on craigslist in orlando. The seller also posted the car here for sale as well. The car is super clean. I do not know nearly enough about this car or e30s in general to tell you much but I know the previous owner rebuilt the motor with an I head and electronics. Its got a 3.25 lsd out of a 535i. Has springs on it and some wheels. Im not sure of the brand. They are 16s. I like the way the car sits but I could see it being a little lower. Removed power steering and all windshield washer stuff out of the engine bay. Late Model bumper installed. Its got full exhaust, however it could be rewelded but it does sound good... Attached is a spreadsheet that the previous owner gave me with the majority of the stuff he had done while he owned it.

There are a few issues that I need to get worked out.

-tachometer/check engine light isn't working. (previous owner put an
instrument cluster out of an i
car in and it hasnt worked since)

-turn signals dont work (no housings after bumper switch out, I plan on getting
a new set of signals but im not sure which wires are
    what)

-idle is rough (especially when using regular gasoline. Didnt have any issues for
the first few weeks with the car)

    -front driver seat is rough

    -reverse lights dont work

-a/c doesnt work (compressor isnt locked, po told me that he charged it and it
all leaked out so he just unhooked and never fixed)
Haven't decided if i will fix or not...

id put a bet on the tach working because he probably didn't run speed signal when he did the swap.

Could you give me a little more info on what you're talking about?

Your rough idle with 87 gas is because you have a chipped ecu and need to run premium. 91 minimum.

i figured it may have to do with that. Ive ran premium the last couple tanks and its smoothed out quite a bit. It can still be a little rough on a cold morning but once its warm it seems to act alright...

Check your flasher relay if the turn signals are not working. Mine had some bad solder joints and heating them up was a quick fix. You'll have to remove the steering wheel to pull the column covers.

                More Pics for you guys…

I need to get the little plastic piece that goes in the trunk to close my tool tray. I have the screw.

Also if you guys know where some nice sport seats are let me know. Or just point me in the right direction. I saw a guy on ebay that had some for close to a grand. It looked like he dealt with a lot of them...

Thanks, My plan is to make it better while I drive it. Everything I own is kind of a project so it goes a little slow.

                        Real hot, would bang.

Pretty sure those wheels are XXRs. Great classic bimmer. Honestly if I was you, I'd look for a set of e36 M seats(Vaders or not).
