    The old days.

I was going through my hard drive and found some old pictures of my car and i thought i would share them with everyone on the board.

I have to say learning how to do the engine swap, inteiror swap and learning how to work on an automobile and none the less a BMW was pretty fun, still not done with it of course but so far it has been a blast learning about these fine automobiles.

I am guessing i have invested about 2k into this car getting it into the shape it is, yeah it doesnt look like there has been alot done to it with that much money spent on it.

    a little a background information

My parents agreed one night to buy me a vehicle of any kind for $300 or less to fix up but the catch was that i would have to enroll myself into an Automotive class for the summer wich hey wasnt a big deal since i already had a big fascintation in automobiles and wanted to learn more about how to repair them, So i took the class and really liked the program which then i decided to enroll myself again but for a full school year

so anyway i was out looking for a car for 300 bucks and my older sister mentioned to me that there was a 1987 BMW 325eS for $300 on yahoo classifieds. Yeah first thing that came to my head was "this is gonna be one peice of shit" soon as my dad came home i showed him the ad, he kinda rolled his eyes at it also since he didnt think it would be a great deal so i pick up the phone that night and call the lady, she tells me the car has a minor dent in the rear, car doesnt run so okay thats not that bad so the next day we went and took a peek at it and woah hey i thought this car only had a tiny dent in the rear well ha it didnt it happened to have worse damage then she described but o well its an old car what do you expect.

Me and my dad both were amazed at the condition it was in for the price it was at so right then and there we exchanged a check for the title and keys.

So the big project began there soon as i got it the defects were, Bad locks, seats, dash, carpet, sunroof liner, bad engine, broken tail lense etc etc,

I basically paid for at the time a fairly new JVC stereo without the JVC rear speaker that the lady requested to keep

Woah this is one long thread!

heres the link to the pictures.

Man.. that old woman didnt know what she had. Basically thats what my eS looked like when it came back to us just last february. Only differences was the body kit my dad put on it years ago. How many miles? While mine had around 360k, We still paid 2300 for it. It seems like my car will run forever, and the guy my dad sold it to took very good care of it, and babied it all the time. I guess we got lucky.
Anyway, what motor did you swap in it? Was the 2.7 that was in it trash when you got it? (looks like one of the valves was completely waisted) And you just swapped in another 2.7? Looks like you've been keeping youself busy. She needs to be in the weeds though man. I see plenty of e30s and each and everyone of them would look better an inch or two lower. I don't know what bmw was thinking when they built these cars. It's almost as bad as my 84 fiero was. Keep up the good work, and let's check the progress out!

Some may i think i am not smart for going this route but i have decided to be the odd duck and not go through with the 325i swap and instead use it for parts, i will see about putting some 325i parts onto the eta maybe find a 323i head things like that.

Yeah it looks like the valve broke and shattered a piston.

The previous owner only had the car for 3 months and during that time she didnt take very good care of it as it took me 2-3 hours to just clean up the carpet and intieror it was sticky and left your hands grimey and there was like old french fries under the seats, gum stuck to the carpet and she must have spilled a soda on the drivers side and never cleaned up the mess oh and worse i think she spilled some perfume in the glovebox since i am unable to get the perfume smell out of it. It was horrible but that carpet is long gone now and i have layed down a another carpet.

The car has been a huge project for me but hey i am loving every minute of it :P
