    thank you!

got some late night work done on the car. i picked up my seat spacers from alacrity today and snagged some long hardware for the spaced out side as well. everything fits perfectly at this point. i got the seat distance and angle pretty much dialed in. it's a real pain in the ass to get in and out of the car with my setup but i'm used to driving my jeep too so i think i'll just have to adjust to it. i'm also lowering my column by 1/2" at the mounting point, which translates to the wheel itself being lowered about an inch. this helps with the wheel angle and keeps the wheel at a reasonable height for vision, but makes it harder to squeeze in and out with the big bolsters on the seat. not sure why the e30 never came with a tilt wheel in the first place. oh well.

    anyway, on to some pictures

this is the column in the position i want it. as you can see there is no spacer. since i wasnt sure what drop i wanted i didn't make one yet.

left side seat mounts with spacers

seat brackets are using all 4 factory mount points. makes it pretty easy for me. i need to trim the brackets and then refinish them before things will really be "finished" here

test fitted the cobra today. i was planning on going with massive's side and floor mounts, but it turns out that the cobra rails will work with spacers on one side. easy $150 saved there. i had to enlarge the floor mount holes on the rails that were included with the seat, but it looks like i should be able to mount it in the perfect position with these rails. with the spacer setup i want to run the seat is almost dead on centered to the wheel, which from what i understand is one of the biggest issues when running a side mount setup in an e30.

i didn't unfortunately. drove the car home from the PO's house and immediately ripped into it. most sources say that a 1989 325i weighed around 2700-2800lbs from the factory. when i got the car it had a bunch of weight in garbage and random tools in the back, but aside from that it was pretty much stock. i'm assuming with everything i'm taking out, with the added weight of larger wheels/tires and the rollbar i'll probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500lbs with a full tank of gas. any less than that would be a pleasant surprise though. weight will vary depending on necessity as well. street ready will be with a spare tire, jack, tools, and extra fluids. track ready won't have any of that, which should be an extra 50lbs off for those days

got some more parts in the mail today. as you can see, they were nice enough to leave the sandwich adapter untouched after casting, so there were some nice chunks of aluminum ready to fall off into my poor engine. probably going to sand blast the whole thing for peace of mind. also got my senders for my gauges, which means they'll be fully functional right when the car is ready to go.

still waiting on my rollbar right now, its been 3 weeks since i ordered it and i have yet to receive a shipment notification. probably going to call them at the beginning of next week to figure out what's up.

wheel studs are here! apex messed up and sent me the 5 lug kit so i have 4 extra studs and lugs which is cool. that's what they get for charging me $25 to ship a VHS tape sized box across 2 states -__-

today i ordered my oil pressure and oil temp senders, as well as a filter sandwich plate. the sandwich plate is kind of a half assed way to do things but for $25 it'll get me by for now. sometime down the road when i rebuild the m20 or swap i'll actually drill and tap some stuff for the senders.

here's a pic of the wheel stud/lug setup:

that'll be one of the first places i go when i get the car on the road again!

i ordered some apex wheel studs today. kinda wanted some anyway and they'll be way safer when i'm using spacers on these new wheels.
