Bought this '91 318i about 6 months ago, this is my second e30 and this is my adventures with it so far.
When i bought the car i needed a commuter and being a e30 enthusiast i had to get another e30. It has a bone stock m42, the odometer was broken and stopped working at about 260k miles. speedo doesnt work, when i was paying for the car, a long stream of coolant was leaking out of the car. PO didnt mention it to me. FML. also is lowered on eibac springs. seeing how complete this e30 was compared to my other one, i was very happy to pay 2500 for it. has the IS seats, and the rear doors are broken and dont open! so i guess you can call it a Coupe? haha


This was right after i bought it.

very clean body and interior. on my drive home, i noticed it overheating. the PO told me it was just a faulty thermostat. so the e30 overheating i was thinking ill go get a new thermostat. immediatly put the new thermostat in and it stopped overheating as fast as it was.
passed smog right away! SCORE! and i have a daily!!!

was messing around with my friends plasti dip and dipped 2 of my rims

oh and took off the TDI german plate and put my custom one :) i bought the german plate months before i bought the car cuz i was so excited.

so the overheating problem continued and i was having to put coolant into my car hourly if i was driving it. it was constantly leaking out of somewhere from my engine. i thought it was my water pump so i changed that.

as i was changing the thermostat when i first got it, i noticed the PO didnt use a sealant for the housing, and one of the bolts was stripped or broken so he ghetto rigged it in there. (part of the origin of the leak) so i put sealant the housing.

i love this thing.
eventually i did what i always wanted to do and smoked out the low beams and yellowed the highs!

Then one night i had enough money to fill up my gas tank. Filled her up with 91 and when i went to start it.... it wouldnt start.... Broken fuel pump! FML!!!!

2 weeks later i finally got the time and money to work on her and get her back on the road!



so everything was peachy! until one random night i was on my way home, about a block away from my house going 20 mph i didnt have a stop sign and a lady that had a stop sign flew infront of me.
ended up t boning her...... FMLLLL


didnt look that bad, but when i went to put my car into gear to get out of the middle of the street, the car wouldnt go into any gear, except 2nd. like i said i was a block away from home so the cop made me drive it home, as i was driving in 2nd gear, i could hear and feel the drive shaft hitting the frame of my car.
Popped the hood the next day and realized that there was a lot more damage than just a fender bender. my engine mounts broke and the engine/ tranny moved forward.

my tranny mounts broke completely in half.
so i bought new condor speed shot tranny and motor mounts.
and bought a new hood, fender, and grill. soo happy my valence and bumper didnt break. also i cant find a picture of it but i bought a mtech 1 wheel that is on the car now.

oh and bought a volvo lip! :)

also picked up new borbet rims

so this is where i am at right now. i still have to align the hood up. paint the fender and hood.
I will be buying new shift linkage bushings, and a short shifter because that also popped out. pretty sure i have to get a new center drive shaft bearing.
Future plans once i acquire more mulla: S50 swap, 5 lug swap, coil overs, also gunna put a pair of BBS style 5 RZ's that i have laying around on with adapters till my 5 lug swap. not sure about much else. just trying to get it back on the street! its killing me not being able to drive this.
but for now my daily is this E36 vert.
