    BBS RF Rebuild

Hey folks, some of you may or may not have seen my refinish of basket weaves. Once I was done with them, I quickly grew tired of cleaning mesh wheels. After a little looking around I found a set of mint BBS RF wheels. Seen here

Then one day as I was checking the wheel classifieds on another site I found another set of RFs that were local to me. Here they are with the others like a big happy family.

The set I picked up is 16x7.5 with one wheel being 16x7, because one lip was damaged and the owner wasn't able to find the correct lip for the car. My goal is to refinish the wheels 7.5" in the front and 9" in the rear.

Here is the smaller wheel, I am getting ready to remove all the bolts

    bolts all gone

Removed the bolts on all 4 wheels

In the process of beating the wheels apart

    all apart

    started cleaning the wheels

The left is the inside of the wheel that I cleaned

Then I proceeded to take the center caps apart

Thinking about the middle color Arizona sun to paint the wheel centers, it's a rolls royce color.

well that's all for now, we are supposed to get a lot of snow on Thursday, so Im sure there will be another update soon.

Both sets are the 014, originally 4x100 no re-drills.

Im not sure I like that color, I may look for a darker beige, maybe a lexus color, or I just might wimp out and go with a slightly darker silver.

                      Thanks.

I didnt get as much done as I wanted, yesterday since I was out shoveling 16" of snow.

I started stripping the clear on the lips

Cleaned the barrels and the rest of the wheel parts

mocked this up just for fun

I will be putting the wheel bolts in my tumbler this weekend to polish them up.

Another boring post, just finished soaking my bolts in paint thinner, they look a little better after the clear is stripped. Once they are polished they should pop.

After being in the tumbler for a couple days, these bolts are finally ready to be polished.

Bought some aluminum caps to replace my plastic ones, my other set has the aluminum caps, so I thought this set could use a little bling.

The front cap is the plastic for comparison purposes
