Texas is a lot more lenient on their emissions than most states, the county I live in is pretty strict and they put it on the sniffer, but the neighboring county is rural, so they basically just check to make sure you have something that resembles a cat lol. So I may be able to get it done there.

I may do a mixture im not sure.

it was on my driveway which is dead level. so I doubt its that.

Im probably gonna do part water anyways, because the Texas summers are very hot, and with any spirited driving, the motor will run very warm on full coolant.

How much for a 13 button OBC?
I've never done exhaust for a swap, but I would think the downpipes would probably be a given. You might get away with just custom downpipes going into your current m20 exhaust unless you're swapping the cats/resonators

If it's hot, you'll want to do more coolant than water. Water has a low boil point, while coolant boils at a much higher temperature. Ergo, you have more coolant, the cooler the car will run: I think I need more coolant in my car; it likes to dab a bit over the middle line if I'm running it through the streets. I went with a 25/75 water/coolant mix, but I usually do 50/50 and always use BMW Blue coolant. You don't need to run BMW stuff, but I prefer it. ALWAYS use Distilled water in the mixing process; tap water has build ups and trace minerals that will react with the inside of the block and rust your engine from the inside out; distilled is completely free of all of that stuff (you can get it at any place that sells hugged water)

I sent you a PM about the OBC

my dad was tellin me I should get the Spec E30 exhaust, I don't know tho... its really loud, my dad says it wouldn't be that bad cuz id have cats but I think itd still be loud, are there any certain exhausts that fit E30s with M30/S5x swaps? because I know you cant just use the E36 M3 exhaust on an E30 for obvious reasons. Now I know ill have to get a new exhaust, I just don't know what im gonna do once I swap if they don't fit. I guess id just cut the down pipes and fab some new ones. ill have to figure it out.

And actually although it has a higher boiling point, it will not keep the engine cooler than distilled water. This is because the coolant has a higher viscosity than water does, and absorbs the engines heat better than water, but it doesn't dispel it as well in the radiator as pure water does. If you run 50/50 coolant/water mixture and your car is running warm, try running 30/70 (or since you live in cali) run 20/80. My dad runs ~10/90 in his M3 because it gets so hot here, and it doesn't get very cold. Running more coolant will give you the opposite effect that is desired.

lol it's an urban myth that purer coolant will keep it cooler. Depending on the lows that you get there in the winter should determine how much to put in.

I have a stupid question to ask. What's the difference between the S50B30 and S52B32 that they have the same amount of hp but the S50 has smaller displacement. I know that it's a longer stroke in the S52, but that should still increase hp as well as torque. Is it the head work? If so can you put an S50 head on an S52?

Beautiful car... I plan on going euros, but money situation isn't that great and I'm just focused on getting her back on the road.. Which means new exhaust, due to this

But with that comes the problem what do I do when I do my S52 swap? I don't want to have to get an entire new exhaust once I do my swap... I'll probably have to fab new down pipes.. But idk completely

Search S52 swap exhaust, pick one you like or make your own. Put that on your car. When you swap in the S52 there should be minimal fabrication to connect to the header. Some people have put on stock S52 exhaust with some modification to their E30, but they hang low. There was a group making a M/S5X swapped exhaust that basically bolts on to the E30. You will have to search I don't have any of these sites saved. If I were you I would weld the exhaust back together. And run that until you do your swap. It doesn't look like it can't be welded back together from the picture.

I was gonna run Ebay headers into a custom down pipe... But someone on here was saying you can run an E36 section one into the cats, then run whatever catback you want. I was thinkin about grabbing an oem one from a junk car and running that till I do my swap, or if what Mentioned above works then just put a catback on it till my swap

                        Little update

Managed to get the exhaust and guibo out with some PB and impact lovin. Haven't put anything new on the car because I'm waiting on some parts from Germany to do my guibo and shifter.

After dropping my exhaust I found a little but of an exhaust leak in the first resonator, not reweldable so I'll have to get something new, I'm thinkin about just getting an OEM one from a pick n pull because I won't be able to use any of it when I do my 24v swap. If any of y'all know of an exhaust that can fit on both, let me know, looking for something that's pretty cheap and has a nice sound.

Pulled the guibo out, this is what it looks like.. Pretty rough..

Old guibo next to new one

Also looking at wheels again.. Was thinking about throwing some Varrstoen V3s on there, just because I've never seen a Henna with V3s and I like the wheel. I think it looks classy. I don't want my Henna to be like all the others. I want it to be unique.

After giving it some thought, I think once I do my S52 swap I'll have the only S5x powered E30 in Texas, I haven't seen another Henna in the state, much less an S5x powered one. Although it'd be naive to think I have the only Henna in Texas. Just a fun little thought, don't rail my ass about it.

That's all for now. Parts should come in during the first part of next week so I'll be able to do the guibo and shifter. I have the parts to do the timing belt and the cap, so hopefully that'll get done this weekend.

Leave y'all with an Instagram picture of Lola

So I decided to change the valve cover gasket today, and managed to get it off with little trouble. Then after getting it off I had to run errands with my sister. So I started on it again this afternoon. After putting it back on, the 2 bolts that hold the spark plug wire rail in place both stripped. Fortunately I had tons of spares from the racecar so I threw the new ones on there no problem... Was torquing everything to spec and on number six 6, bam! The stud broke. Much cursing then Ensued and then I had to take the valve cover and gasket back off.. Upon pulling out number 4 (the left one that holds the rail on) the entire stud screwed out.. Wtf?! Turns out when the first one stripped all the shit left over metal was on there and when I torqued the new one down to spec it essentially made it rethread the stud, getting the new bolt stuck on there. So now i need a 2 new studs, 2 new bolts and 2 new washers.. Fml..

The news in all of this is that the head looks in great shape. So I don't have to worry about that

Now I have to wait even longer to get her back on the road.. Probably won't be driveable till Memorial Day with all the stuff I have going on in the next week and a half (AP test on Thursday, my moms graduation is Saturday and her birthday is Monday, and there's also tons of stuff that still needs to get done. Namely the timing belt, shifter, guibo, exhaust and seats). I'm still waiting on Pelican to ship us the rest of the parts (they said their waiting on one of the t shirts, I was trying to say send the parts so I can get it done, you can send the shirts later) hopefully it'll get in mid week so I can get some work done.

                          The two broken studs

Yea I didn't realize that was the hold up or I would've told them earlier. But I found out this morning that was the hold up (the parts were supposed to get here yesterday)
