haha yeah that black vinyl seat was my first go around at anything like this. I had a sport seat with worn but intact leather I made patterns from and did the same for the rears. I'm incredibly pleased to say the least. It was about $900 in materials which I figured was the cost of an ebay vinyl kit f+r, (much more work though haha) and mine included the door cards too!

To be fair... There are other sections of stitching that arent as pretty as the one shown and a few things that aren't "perfect".Overall I think it is at or a little above a generic kit you could order online in terms of overall quality ( ignoring materials). There are lots of small things I learned doing this one that I would use if i were to do another one ( twin needles for French seams, aligning patterns better for headrest, increase height of my ebrake boot, I could go on a while about these tiny details )

Still super proud of it though.

Ive done some things! I don't expect them to fit everyones taste, but I am very proud of them. Since I bought the car I have always thought plaid interiors were cool - ala 70's Porsche tartan.

As seen in the previous post, the black vinyl seat turned out pretty well. I ended up buying a hide of camel leather and burberry - tartan fabric.I used the pattern for the front seats and got new seat shocks as well ( thanks Jeff!). I went on to the rear using the same disassembly / pattern making method and was pleased with how those came out as well! I then did some a shift boot and an ebrake handle cover/ shift boot as well.

I then used some SEM camel color coat to match the rear seatbacks and door cards, but it wasn't enough. I used some upholstery tack strips to cover the door cards in some of the remaining fabric I had. Needless to say, I am extremely pleased with the results, enjoy!

Now to finish my 2.9L - my goal is have it running by september

    Fun Stuff has happened!

Registered for the vintage - Ill be there in the E30 and my dad will bring the E32. Really looking forward to it. I enjoyed it a lot last year.

Got a yakima roof rack for utility and looks purposes.

Engine build is progressing slowly but surely. Did more measurements and math.

replaced my sticky throttle cable and re-bent the original stop tab in the footwell. Throttle feels very nice now

Since my interior was rough, I began to watch youtube videos for upholstery DIYs. I had a spare sport seat sitting around and figured id give it a shot. Worst case I own a sewing machine, best case I save lots of money. I disassembled the seat and made patterns from the existing leather. I used some cheap vinyl from hobby lobby to practice with. For my first try at this stuff I'm really pleased! Its by no means perfect - there are a lot of little flaws - but overall I am thrilled with the results.

I also got a chance to do some work on my dad and I's project car - a 1966 Mercedes 230S. installed an electric fuel pump ( diaphragm on the original one got eaten by the ethanol fuel) and played with the carbs. Its a little tough to start, but once she is going she runs like a top!

Hah! Funny how similar our cars are, although yours looks to be in much better shape. Love the pin stripe!

    Great work so far

Fun stuff is happening with my spare M20

Yes piston hight is a little high, that was by design to fit an certain crank and I will remedy that with a custom head gasket.

I finally got around to finishing my installation of H&r sport springs. I switched from the 29664 variants the the 50406 variants. The 50406 is much more suited for my late model 325i, and the car feels much more neutral. I will be selling the 29664's in the coming weeks if anyone is interested, I imagine they would work well for an early or late 318i(s). new ride height is shown below.

I also have been very annoyed with my tire wear, and wanted to correct that before i used the dz102's full time. In light of this, I anti-stanced my car!

Ireland engineering street camber plates up front

and in the rear I installed some garagistic camber/toe adjusters!

The "While I'm in there" for this particular project grew a bit...

New sub frame and trailing arm bushings, as well as sway bar links.

TMS sway bar trailing arm tab reinforcements. This will enable me to get stiffer sway bars in the future without having to worry about ripping the tabs out. Protip, when you are prepping for welding on this, don't cut your hard brake line.... I was able to find the correct bubble flare lines at advanced auto, but I felt I was lucky.

ECS Stainless Steel brake lines all around

Look at how much straighter my wheels are! I am so happy to finally get this car aligned properly with the correct lower springs, and look forward to seeing how it does in autocross.

Finally, I got some ebay special exhaust complete with advanced auto exhaust tips.

I'm happy with the sound, my previous catback was really rotted out. This new system sounds stockish now. Idle and below 3k are relatively quiet, but that 6 still sings a song above 4. This is only meant as a temporary solution until I get my 2.8 built, when I will try to do a header-back system.

Thats all for now folks, sadly no progress on the motor yet, but I should be able to focus my attention on in now that the subframe is in.

    Update Time!

Well, first thing: I reupholstered my steering wheel! I'm very happy with how it came out considering it was my first time doing anything like that.

    Kit: http://www.aglausa.com/

I then got a ZHP knob to match my new leather! I have to say I love it so far, it just sits in my hand very nicely.

So part of my interior is certainly looking nice, thats for sure.

But i think the next step will involve this guy. Its certainly serviceable enough for now, but I will be keeping my eyes out if creative options, ninestitch, or that one other dude ( stitched i think?) opens back up for new requests.

Thats the interior update! now for the more fun stuff...

And the RA's are 15x6 et33. which is surprisingly close to the stock bottlecap offset ( also a 6" wide wheel") at et35. to get stock spec, a 3mm spacer would center the tire in the wheel well, at least that is what my research has shown. and you are correct, 205/55 is oe spec. Admittedly I chose the 205 50 for cost and visual effects. Any performance / ABS / etc. outcomes from this slightly undersized tire seemed negligible to me.
