Sit around kiddies and listen to how I came to acquire this 325es...
It was a long long time ago, in a SoCal City far-far-away, there lived a mexican with a love for e30's. He had a rusty stock-ish 87 eta from NY for 6 long years, his first car and he thought it was time to let the eta go. So off he went to search for his new e30. He searched high and low, on eBay, CL and Copart... from SD to SF and TX but no cars presented themselves worthy of his meager budget. For weeks he searched and searched but to no avail until one faithful Monday morning before work he spotted a candidate on eBay.
This candidate seemed promising, clean title, stock, straight-ish body, running, didn't pass smog but that could be fixed, interior needed some work and the exterior needed some paint but it wasn't a deal breaker. Only one thing was stopping the mexican from acquiring said e30, the current owner was making this a bidding war that was to last until the end of the week, he wanted us to fight for her, to throw money at him until he was satisfied his pockets were full.... Little did he know that the war was not to happen as planned, only 2 people had thrown money at him so far while everyone else was waiting in the sidelines, waiting until the time was right at the end to strike and claim her for themselves.
At first there were only 5 spectators every hour that monday night, I was relieved because that meant there was very little competition so far and I could acquire her easily. But as tuesday came around that number went up to 19 per hour... I was getting nervous, the amount of spectators was increasing and maybe more would join the war, but alas none joined the war that tuesday night. Wednesday came around and the amount of spectators went up to 34 per hour, now i knew war was coming, it was going to be deceitful, it was going to be quick and it was going to eliminate my dolla-bills-and-some-pesos army if I were to even try to get involved, so I just waited to see what the outcome would be. I tried not to look for I knew I was destined to lose the war once it started but I couldn't help but look to see... There was still peace that thursday night but there were 49 spectators per hour, war was imminent, I could feel it... Friday morning came around and now there were 55 spectators per hour, I now have given up hope and knew I would not get involved in the coming war, so off to work I went to try to get this e30 off my mind.
Come home and go to sleep not even bothering to look for another e30 or check on the status of the war. Wake up that night and decided to check if the war had started, I see that the owner had just changed his mind, he now gave the option of going to war or paying his price and avoid going to war altogether. The price was well within my meager budget so I knew that I had to act fast for as soon as word got out that the war could be avoided someone with deeper pockets would jump at the chance. So I weighed the risks and said eff it and channeled my inner Lil Wayne and decided to make it rain.
I won her and here she is... There is still the story of the day I went to pick her up but that is a story for another day... one when im not too lazy to write it.
TL: DR Was broke, found e30 on eBay, waited 5 days, won e30 but became broker.
I didn't take before pics because it was a mess and I wanted to fix her up pronto.
Things done so far:
New Cat & Tune-up (passed smog)
New Radiator (old one was clogged and crappy)
Swapped complete interior with my old e30 (the one it came with was torn and covered in dog hair, completely threw out the old carpet)
Aftermarket stereo put in
Things to be done:
Replace sealed beams with ellips/emilies
Replace current LSD with 3.xx LSD
replace bottlecaps with BBS/BMW wheels
Re-do suspension (right now I feel the motion of the ocean)
5-spd swap
Fix body
re-Paint it all
New emblems
