    My new 318is Touring

I saw this on an Dutch forum last week, it was a 1994 316i M40 touring with an M42B18 swap from an e36.

    It has:

    - 17" Alpina replicas with summer tyres
    - 15" bbs with winter tyres
    - M42b18 swap with a Conny Konschak chip (don't know anything about that, have to check it out)
    - Some sort of aftermarket exhaust manifold and Sebring muffler
    - Green open airfilter
    - New battery
    - Koni yellow dampers
    - M-tech springs
    - New brakes on the front
    - All subframe rubbers are replaced recently
    - An "Edition" sport interior, without any damage!
    - M-tech 2 steering wheel
    - Power windows
    - Is-lip
    - A bunch of extra parts

An old photo I found on the forum:

    And it's current state:

    Interior:

    And safely in the garage:

    M42:

So, that was the good news, now the bad news, someone hit the front panel:

And the other bad news is that the M42 runs on 3 cilinders, which I will have to look into. But the price was low enough to take the risk of swapping an other engine into it.

That interior combined with the color of car. I'm salivating.

It's an Edition touring, that's why the color/seat combo is there :-)
Not many Edition E30's were made.
Talked to a vert owner at Asphaltfieber in Germany a month ago, he had a Neonblau E30 Edition vert with blue sports seats.
He said that only 276 Neonblau Edition verts were ever made.

16v feels pretty dead for now, but I'll get to that after my holiday

It is an Edition Touring indeed, interior is pretty rare and the fabric rips apart easily but mine is still nearly perfect!
PO took care of this car, there were receipts for a few thousand of euros in the glove compartment :D

i got so excited about how clean this car is that it took like the fifth glance of drooling over those pictures to see that the car was hit and one cylinder is down. idk how much you payed but that color combination is too sick and although they are replicas the alpina's look very nice with it all. Nice catch and goodluck with the repairs!

                    Started tearing the engine apart:

Hmm, one of these isn't like the others

But before I go any further, lets first check the compression

                    Cilinder 4: 11 bars :)
                    Cilinder 3: 11 bars :)
                    Cilinder 2: 11 bars :)
                    Cilinder 1: 0 bar :ohsnap:

Well, lets start taking the head off then

                    Looks good, now the intake:

                    not good:

I think i know where those screws are

                    Yep, definitely in cilinder 1:

I am now looking for an other M42 to drop in

It's staying M42, I have to think about fuel economy a bit because it's going to be my daily.

I'll let you know when it's for sale ;D

In the mean time, I took the engine out:

Someone delivered a fresh E36 M42: (love the trailer!)

We messed around with some wires while drinking beer:

                            And back in its place:

                            Connecting everything:

And cleaned it up a bit:

And for a first testdrive around the block:

I found a new panel and took it to the shop for it's overdue yearly inspection:

It passed and is now my daily driver:
