    Yes you do need software. I coupled it w/ conforti chip and euro CAI. I know there are many cheaper alternatives for chips, though.

      Well on my old S50 i ran a 540 HFM without software and the thing ran like a champ.

          hmmm. don't really have an answer for ya there. When I got my shipment from Turner I installed the HFM and CAI first, but didn't start the car until I had installed the chip. Turned out they sent me the wrong chip (US spec) and it started up very rough. I turned if off quickly and waited for my replacement euro chip.

          I have heard that my ECU would have adjusted it's mix over time, but I didn't wait around to find out.
