The newest addtion to the collection

Hey guys! Just wanted to share some pics of the new ride. I'm sure some of you have seen my last build thread here:

Not sure if ill be making a build thread for this yet, but I'd at least like to share some pics.

    Story:
So yesterday (of posting date of course) I was having breakfast and doing my normal thing, come on here and look around, check Craigslist for parts and car's. I've been looking for a convertible for a couple months now, all weren't up to my standards or the seller sold before I could check it out (act fast people, its like Costco!)

Well I searched "BMW Convertible" and Bam!, first result is this baby. No phone number, only posted for 42min (that's the exact number the ad. said it was posted up for). I email him and he calls about 10min later. He said there was one other person that was coming by on Wednesday, I told him I was busy all day today but could come by around 7pm. I'm worried this thing is going to sell like the last couple cars I missed out on, but I wasn't free until 5pm and while it was only 30 miles away, we get some fairly bad traffic.

Get down there and, well its the real deal. Mtech II White on White Vert. It's so dark, I see some clear coat peal on the panels, but I told him I'd come tomorrow with the rest of the money and gave him $300.

    It's in my driveway now.

So problems that I need to address ASAP:

-Interior is shot :( and its the rare white leather seats
-Car leaked a quart of Power Steering fluid on the 30 mile drive back
^He did tell me it leaked, but topped off every 2 weeks...
-He doesn't remember doing a timing belt change and owned it since 94'
-The front end suspension needs a major tune up
-Timer button on OBC stays lit up at all times, even with no keys in ignition
-The trunk refuses to open, I do have a full lock set but would prefer to save the lock rather then drill it open. Suggestions highly needed.- FIXED

Besides that, I think It was a pretty good find. Right before I drove off with it he said that there where 5 emails for it. So I washed it for the first time in, maybe years? Now that all the mold and oxidation is off, I think a wax will really do the trick. Any info on the door cards would be great, never seen them before.

    Couple blocks from his house

    Paint Before

Paint After (all those black spots of mold came off and now its really shinny )

    All the goodies included

I'm assuming there just a rare stock door card?

these cars werent clear coated from factory.
nice find tho. you can use magic eraser to get off the black marks on the map pockets.
spray WD40 into the lock and maybe u will get it to turn.
those are very special door cards. they were an add-on.
as for the interior, there is a guy in sac that can recover it for about $2k.
        Much wow

Thanks for the info Eric. I'll defiantly start cleaning the door cards tomorrow with what you recommended. I got to say though, It looks like clear coat peal! I'll eventually get the kit resprayed.

Also, the wheels cleaned up great!

ya, some of the car was resprayed.
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/10/16/jysysema.jpg here u can see the tow hook cover was not and is now a different cover.
my car's bumpers and trim were also in bad shape. and i had Oliver repaint them in single stage. it really made the car look a lot better. and his price was very reasonable.

You sir scored! Your so lucky. A respray and recover of the interior and that thing will be perfect. Besides the obvious tune up of the motor and suspension.

Looks good, those door panels are cool. Too bad the interior wasnt taken care of.

And there is two versions of alpine white. One was single coat, one was clear coated.

Beautiful vert! Left a card on a similar Mtech vert (same color/same interior) in Seattle, but dude held on to it. Was in a bit worse condition than yours. Looking forward to see what you do with it!

Your MT2 was just about the same shape mine was in when I got it. A polish, new leathers, and a tuneup will do wonders. Enjoy saving it.

The newest addtion to the collection

Thanks guys. Thought I'd share this... The auto top works! I thought it was broken, turns out it's just slow as hell and I wasn't holding the button long enough for the latches to unlatch.

Edit: forgot to say I did the timing belt 2 days ago

EDIT: Figured I'd post some pics during the job I found on my computer. I cleaned everything before reassembly, this was right after I got the timing cover off and hadn't cleaned anything yet .
