Took a drive on Thanksgiving up to the Crystal Lake area since I couldn't fly home and don't really have anyone out here. Spent a nice afternoon carving the canyon roads and stopped at the top to watch the sun set and the stars come out.
Base of the canyon heading up! It was like 94 degree's, hot as hell for late November for me!

Passed a few of the reseviors which really give you an idea how bad the California drought is.
Way down...

Even further down...

Isn't there supposed to be water here?

Stopped a scenic turn off and chilled on a log right in the middle of this creek. It was super peaceful and a nice change from the usual LA noise.

Back on the road I stopped a few places to snap a few pictures.

The road gets super twisty towards the end so I enjoyed the rest of the drive to the top. Made a quick detour for some tasty grilled cheese.

And hit the parking pad at the top just in time to catch an awesome sunset.

Dat view...

I brought a fold up chair and sat and watched the rest of the sunset and had a few beers. It was awesome.
Then the stars came out. It's been awhile since I've really been able to see the stars and being 5000+ ft up and away from the smog gave a super clear view.

Sat around enjoying some quiet and headed back down. It was a little scary in the dark since there are so many totally blind corners and tight hairpins but it was great. Can't wait to make it back up.
