WOW! Its all so perfect. From the swap, the wheels, and the color...dead perfect! But I have to ask...why pull it from the cabrio? Are there plans different plans for it?

Out of curiosity, what are the current laws in Germany like in regards to "old" car ownership.

Love how clean the engine bay looks, well done.

Did you paint the bay yourself?

Yes, I used two components paint and epoxy primer filled up in standard spray cans which you can get in a store here. It has to be used within 8 hours - works very well.

Out of curiosity, what are the current laws in Germany like in regards to "old" car ownership.
In short: for cars older than 30 years you can get a so called "historical admission". The car will be examined by a official ("TÜV") and has to be
in a quite good condition (roughly C or better).

After that it is classified as "Oldtimer" and the tax is always 191€ - some insurances also demands this for special rates. It's indicated by the letter "H" on the very right of the license plate, you can see it on my pictures.

BUT: there are a few limitations. All changes on the car have to be "historical", which means that they had to be possible in the first 10 years after the construction date. So a S50, V8, M50 swap would probably not get such an admission. I also had to prove, that the lowering springs were available in this 10 year time range. Same for rims, etc. .

Of course you can still get a standard admission, but without the tax benefit for cars with bad environment classification, e.g. without catalytic converter. Furthermore we have special zones in most cities, where you aren't allowed to drive
with a bad classification. With this special "H" admission, that doesn't matter.

why pull it from the cabrio? Are there plans different plans for it?
The convertible gets a rebuilt M20B25, simple as that :D Perhaps I will sell it, we'll see when it's completed.

Und der TÜV-Prufer hat nicht gemerkt dass der Motor war M30 statt M20??? Weil im Princip, für H-Kennzeichen, alles muss original....oder mindestens original aussehen ;D

Not necessarily. Everything is officially approved (based on Kelleners K3)
