It is the vinyl or painted on strip that runs along the side of the car. It is quite thin, hence the name pin. It runs along the top of the fender back the trunk lid. HTH

Here is an example on a white 318is (borrowed from e9nine):



See the black paint along the top of the fender back to the trunk lid, it is right along that ridge on the body.
