    my daily build

So here is my build thread.
Around october 2014 i was driving around my 2005 vw jetta gli 1.8t. It was a stage 2 car (whatever that means) it wasnt exactly powerful but it was a mean little sucker
I never quite dynoed it but i raced a friends stock evoX and neither of the cars won. So for a jetta, that was pretty roudy. Anyway, i didnt build the car and it was lowered and i got tired of driving a manual. I was just sick of scraping everywhere and i was just done with dealing with the car in the city.
One day a friend of mine showed up with a mint 89 325i e30. It was an automatic. He was the second owner. He drove it from florida and made me an offer i couldnt refuse. The e30 and 2500 for my jetta.
I was facinated by the car because it was clean and stock, untouched by any previous idiot that did things improperly. It was an automatic, so i was all over it

We did the trade, and i loved it. I was wanting to keep it stock. At least that was the plan....

Later i started missing the power of the mk4 jetta. And i had 2500 laying around. I did some math, and turbo ideas kicked in (wasnt my first turbo rodeo, but it ended the same way the last turbo rodeo did)

This was the previous turbo build. An aba swapped ms1 rabbit gti

I decided to slowly buy everything. Not just dumping all of it at once. Ive learnt that shit happens, and sometimes you need money

First thing i bought was a megasquirt pnpv2 with a innovate lc2 from diyautotunes website. I was introduced to megasquirt by aaroncake on youtube. And had built a ms1 before that too. So i was already somewhat knowledgable in the area, and the fact that i didnt have to wire it in made it even better. Except for the wideband, but that was cake

2 months later. My daily beater's auto trans took a crap. So hard the car wouldnt move in neutral...
I ended up scrapping it and bought a shitty 300 dollar mk2 jetta (best 300 dollars ever spent)
That was my first automatic car, and i was like whatever. At least the e30s auto trans is good.

You see my original plan was to build the car with the auto trans. I know, shame on me

Anyway. That winter. I was driving the jetta and ended up starting up the car and putting it in reverse aaaaand.... nothing. Then it finally went in. Hmmm prolly nothing. I was wrong, it kept coming back.
Although, the trans never broke, that was my signal from the gods "automatics are just not for you" so as i was smart with my money spending. I had money left over and used part of that to begin a manual swap

I knew i was gonna make some power, so i went to the safe route and got myself a steel singlemass flywheel, to help out the turbo a bit. With a spec stage 3, 6puck clutch. You can hat3 on it all you want, but ive been running it for a while. And although harder to use, hasnt been bad

Anyway, i started sourcing everything for the swap, shit was just terrible. Different things by different years and things didnt match up and i just had a nightmare getting everything that matched. I had an even bigger nightmare getting transmissions

The first trans was bought at night, and i didnt notice the huge crack on the bellhousing...
The second, looked awesome. And i was gonna use it, untill i pulled the input shaft seal to replace it and found this....
Trans was run without fluid. So it was done. I tried making one good trans out of two. With no luck. Something in the case, maybe wear patterns prevented the trans from shifting into gears without the use of a hammer and a few hits at high speeds with the help of gravity....

Next i bought a trans with a warranty. Lesson learned......

That did the trick. A few seals and few bushings and the entire swap went in in two weekends. Safe to say i never want to do that again. Because of the trans issues. My budget for turbos had been greatly reduced
I already had a holset and a tial wategat waiting.

Christmas comes in, and my budget is back up. And its all looking good. But i wanted it done right, so i decided to do some more math.
I had quit my job because i wasnt getting any hours. Aaaand i ended up 500 bucks over budget. Sooo that went through the hole.
I ran into money issues and Had to sell the turbo and wastegate.....

I thought the build was done. But then i got a job with a steady 40 hours a week.
Builds back up. But i did some required things to the car with the money i had. Put some different wheels with spacers and studs to make it look better
And then i sold the motorcycle and that paid for some bilsteins and some hr sport springs
Now the car handles like a dream and is tuned on 30 pound injectors and running like a dream on the megasquirt

So then i saw a might car mods video of nitrous....

    My ecu had nitrous settings....

I had large enough injectors for at least 300 hp....

I even tuned it on colder plugs for higher oxygen levels.....

I did the math. And it would be 2k dollars plus for the turbo, and alot of fab work

And 500 dollars plus for the nitrous kit as a dry shot.

Everybody says, you have to refill.. well so do people that run meth...
Its gonna be expensive they said.. well it would take me 2 years, of 50 bucks a month on refills. Plus the price of the kit. To match the price of the turbo setup....
Youll blow up the motor they say, its doing the same thing as boost, just lowere intake pressures. Its just giving more oxygen

I can do 50 bucks a month, i cant dish out 2k out of the blue

So thats my build at the moment. Im on a budget, so i buy when i can. At the moment i need to buy a catback for it because mother nature decided to take what was hers and half my mufflers back in the ground where it came from

But after the exhaust i will be investing in the nitrous kit. And as much as people will hate on it. I will learn so much more than them, just by going through with it. Rather than avoiding it because its "stupid" its not stupid if it effectively makes power. I mean, drag cars use them, so it must be used because it actually works
Working...
