First E30 Brillantrot 318i sedan (OEM Spray Paint???)

    Hey fellas

Just picked up this 1991 318i Brillantrot Sedan about a month ago and I am super excited to modify and enjoy this whip for a long time coming. . .

So I live in SoCal and I was shopping around on CL for a E30 and I spotted this red four door in the Sacramento classifieds and I hit up the dude through text and we made a deal and I wired $500 for a down payment! Soon after that I made my girlfriend and a couple of friends accompany meself on the pilgrimiage up north From Fontana , CA to Sacramento, CA which is a 7 hour drive one way!!! Xo

Once I got there we made small talk and went for a test drive and next thing I know. . .Bam! I'm driving off in a sweet E30!!!

    Now the car has it's flaws ;l. . .but overall it's a solid 7/10

Here are some pics of when I drove off and some pics of it at my house. . .

This is at my house and and after a good wash and next to my friends 86' 325E

Well so far I plan doing small cosmetics like

-painting the trim molding black because it's pretty faded
-new tires because the stock ones rub like crazy!
-paint the underbelly "side skirts" red
-paint the lip and valances red again because they are faded

As far as performance and such. . .

I would really love to build this M42 to full turbo spec, I think it has potential and is super cool because many people opt for the M20 or 24v swap. . .

However a mean 4 banger would be dope!

I really want this car to stand out and to be more "go" than just "show". . .

Some things I plan on doing for starters. . .

    -catback exhaust probably magnaflow
    -new plugs NGK
    -chip for 7,000 rpm!
    -coolant flush and oil change
    -need suspension overhaul!!!!!

more to come as I buy stuff and gather things. . .

any comments or suggestions are welcomed

What tyres are they? Perhaps rolling the guards would cure the rubbing?

                  Thank for the welcome dudes!

And as for the center caps ey, well the prob is the treads are a pain in the bootay to screw back on. . .I'm experimenting with refinishing the centers first. . .

Anyone know where I can get some bigger lips for a sweet deal??

These are BBS RS 601 btw. . .

I am going to roll the fenders, however I already got some used tires because i think the others were like 245s. . .just too wide for me. I don't like when the rim is all sunk into the tire. . .

                          Thanks man!

                          UPDATE:

I was able to change the oil and radiator fluids successfully although I had some trouble bleeding the radiator. But good thing this is a DIY for everything forum and I got the problem resolved.

Spark plugs have been installed as well and when I installed the fuel filter I realized this car was running the OEM fuel filter :l 24 years!. . .

Now for the real interesting part!
I decided to give my car a nice facelift. The paint on the front valance was really dull and had a lot of smudges. So I decided to repaint the valance and the lip since it was black. I think the colored lip gives the car a better front facia.

What is interesting is that I stumbled upon some Duplicolor spray paint "Bright Red" and thought eh my car is Brillantrot (Bright Red) so I bought a can and sprayed a flyer to see how the color matched up and to my surprise it looks almost identical! so I decided to definitely do the front facelift.

                          * I know the car was resprayed at some point so I hope the PO got the correct Brillantrot color code.

Here are some pics. . .

Well it looks pretty good IMO. Anybody else out there who has Brillantrot can maybe verify if the color matches with theirs??

I plan on doing the rear valance and also the "side skirts" the part that is black. . .

                          More to come
