For the past few weeks of ownership on my e36 m3, the skinny tires have been bugging the crap out of me. The previous owner put on a set of BBS style 42 wheels that has a five series et of 20. Stock e36 et is 41
. Needles to say skinny wheels mounted on an 8" wheel is all that you can do to have the classy look of these wheels. The tires mounted to the BBS wheels are a 205, much more narrow than stock tires on an e36.
I really didn't want to pony up the funds to by wheels and tires so I traded with someone on Face Book. The guy was selling his e46 coupe and I asked if he was interested in trading his wheels for a set of BBS wheels. He jumped at the opportunity and we traded even. His tires are near new Nitto 245/45/17 and wheels were 17x8 et 40 :). Only downside was his wheels finish was horrible but nothing a little rattle can couldn't correct.
I'm sure some of you will think I'm crazy for trading BBS wheels but despite the name, they serve no use only being able to run a 205 tire.
BBS before.......

After with much wider tires.....
