Handling issues.
Widening the rear track alone would tighten up the car. That can be good or bad depending on the way you drive and the original roll couple distribution. Manufacturers usually design in a safety factor in favor of understeer. Most folks are unnerved by a car that gets loose with trailing throttle/braking. In that sense, tightening up the car would be bad.
