Video of my sleeper ls1 e30

Hey guys, figured I would share this with you all. This was just for fun, never really intended to make a video. I drove to the beach and my friend recorded some footage and edited it on his own.

For now I'll link it to my FB since that's where the video is. When I have time I'll try to upload it to YouTube for high quality and in case anyone can't view it.

Haha yes it is! I plan to do everything...

Suspension, bbk, wheels/tires are first on the list.
      Repaint the car
power goal is 450-500rwhp and it's mostly going to be a street driven car.

Nice! Best of luck with the build, hope to see it in person one day I'm from Central Jersey too. Just live in Hoboken now.

390-410 is whats generally made on LS1's with an OTR, mafless tune, cam and decent full exhaust system. 450-500 requires a fair bit more work (headwork, stroking or boost)

400 is bloody heaps with these engines, here in aus that power in a large sedan ropes in mid 12s so in an E30 would be easily an 11 sec car if you can get the power down. Its fucking fast.

Get some good heads, cam, and all bolt ons and you can easily get to 450+ hp to the wheels. I would go with a set of heads from Advanced Induction and a custom cam to reach your goals. Here is a link of some one using those heads.

heads arent cheap and to spend that amount of money for a 50-60hp increase isn't very good bang for buck. Would be cheaper to turbo it. After 400 the power increases are small for the money spent

Thanks! Hoboken is about an hour from me. I'm near belmar. I'm always down to meet new people, especially e30 people.

I plan on doing a head cam combo so 450whp is easy. I already have huge headers and hptuners. If I ever feel crazy I'll add boost. I've been lurking ls1tech for a bit.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it but I'm far from doing anymore power upgrades until I get the suspension and brakes done.

No they are not cheap, but getting power through out the whole power band is always good. A well built and reliable turbo setup is a lot more expensive then heads and cam. But if I was gonna go turbo I would still do heads, cam, and then turbo

Exactly, heads, cam, and later turbo if you get bored of it. Yeah, suspension and brakes should be next before any more power. Keep up with the updates of your build.

If I'm not mistaken the 3.73 lsd can handle 500hp. I have the sikky steel DS cause I knew I was going to be making a lot of power in the long run over the aluminum, wasn't concerned about the extra weight.

a 500hp V8 has more torque earlier than a boosted 6. Will be interesting to see anyway.. If you put bigger tyres on it and bigger shafts then the breaking point just moves to the weakest link, whether its the diff, coupling or uni's

Ive seen a 400hp RB25 shred a crown wheel on a 33S2 diff.. those diff's arent shit either..

I honestly think you will be really happy with 400 from it, they really pack a punch in third and second gear happens so fast you're speeding in a couple of seconds which is heaps from a car you want to drive on the street, but you seem more interested in numbers which isnt for everyone.

I appreciate your input, and I understand how it works, but I'm not worried about breaking stuff. I'll fix it and make it better. I know I won't be happy with 400, I'm used to my father's 700hp street driven nova. My father and I do all the work ourselves btw so it's a fun project.

I'm also not all about making #s for the sake of #'s. I'm not even worried about more power atm, I want to first get the car sorted in relation to everything else before I start playing under the hood. It's just the HP range in where I would like to be. That's all I was saying. When the time comes, I'll make sure if I have the power, the car will be able to support it. My father has been building muscle cars for the last 30 years so he'll guide me down the right path.

The car is on the back burner anyway. I'm in no rush to do anything. I just finished school, have 3 jobs, and I'm trying to save money so I'm just enjoying it the way it sits now once or twice a week.
