I don't see the problem in choosing a tire not only for it's performance, but also the way it looks on the car. I'm guess I'm not quite elitist enough to understand.

Really? I was just on their site and it showed $98 each. I don't need to worry about shipping, since they just built an America's Tire here (Discount and America's are the same place). I wonder if the price they listed was for mounting/balancing, since I did input my zip before I started looking.
