I finally found a worth DD to beat around in for a few years.
After much searching about about... 460 miles driven total to find a new car. I got one!
Long story short. I went to look at a 95 jetta. Pics looked good, but I get up there and the car is a pile of trash. Everything is shot on it, brakes could HARDLY stop me, powersteering was toaste, e-brake was "broken due to the cars age", and it didnt look very nice. Dealer was asking $2500, total rip off.
After busting my laptop out and calling a few more people about their cars I finally see a 96 jetta at "bobs auto ranch" no pics, hardly any description, but it was only 15 miles away so we go to check it out. He was only asking 3 grand.
To my amazement it turned out to be a pretty nice car. Hardly any body damage, good brakes, pretty new tires, everything seemed to work just fine. Only thing was the "check engine" light was always on.
On my way to see the car though, I saw a checker auto. So I asked the guy if I could go and get the codes pulled to see whats up. He tells me I have 30 min to get there and back. I get the codes pulled and I just find out both the o2s are shot, not a big deal at all.
I told him I would give him $2100 for the car, since it had no records, DEFINATLY a smokers car (smells funky and theres tar all over the head liner), probably needs a new timing belt, and the o2s are shot. I knew it was a low ball but I was trying to get him in the $2500 range. He told me the lowest he could go was $2700, whatever good enough for me. So I pulled the trigger.
So now, introducing... NEW WHITEY!! (whitey was my old trusty white e30 325i lol)

Only has 116k on the clock (as opposed to 180k the other jetta had) and its not really in that bad of shape.
First mods to come:
Rip off all that retarded fake CF
Pull the door dinger out (it sounds HORRID, some terrible little music crap)
Scrub the whole interior down
Timing belt
New hubcap
And maybe find some speaker covers.
Looks like someone rigged a sound system in, front speakers are not stock and there is what looks like a remote line and rca cables run to the trunk for a sub. It also looks like there is an after market moonroof. If it is it was put in very good. The only thing I dont like is there is no way to block the light from it, the sun can come though and get ya right in the eyes. Might stick a chunk of felt on it to block it out.
Anyways, I think I got a pretty good deal and im happy!
