Greetings, folks -
Leveraging the sum VW handed me for my dieselgate Golf, I decided to finally purchase a vintage BMW that I’ve been admiring since my high school years, but never acted upon. I thought about a newer BMW diesel, then decided that I really don’t like new car design at all. I debated an ‘03 or ‘04 3-series but there wasn’t much choice given that I refuse to drive an automatic. I found a retired couple in AZ who were selling their 325ix after owning it since new(!). They performed a full exterior restoration, the interior is nearly mint, and the car has been garaged its entire life, in AZ for 25 of those years. Now with 193k on the ODO after driving back to SF, this is my only car, as I only drive on weekends and take public transport to work. Immediately on the list of to-dos are new clutch, new shocks, short shift kit, mTech steering wheel, and new radio. Other than that, I intend to keep it all stock. Considering refurbished sport seats to replace the standard ones installed. Found a great mechanic who used to own one and seems to know what is going on here. Held my breath through the smog certification (it was manufactured with 50-state emissions 😯 and now have it registered and plated. Welcome any advice from y’all! I’m sure I’ll be back posting as the car gets improved over time.
