Took the 2002 to work and stopped to fuel up first. A gentleman approached saying he'd never seen such a BMW, then stated he had a BMW that been parked in his mother's garage for the last ~15 years, few details. We exchanged information on the hopes that I could take care of his car, as much as I do my own.

Time passed, we talked numbers and then waited on titling, and finally this came home

A mild wash, flushed the fuel tank, new pump, plugs, fluids and with 108,XXX miles it fired right up. I still have a short list of refreshing to do, but everything is working as it should, minus the pegged fuel gauge.


The interesting bit, while cleaning things up, I happened to notice some smearing on the glass of the driver side rear glass. Nothing removed the issue. Turns out the smearing is IN the glass, probably someone at the glass factory on a Friday at quarter to five, or maybe a piece of test glass that accidentally got used....
