Yes I am able, and willing to get your OEM parts. Not sure I can get all of them, but they have showed me some of their options before and I was quite surprised. PM me please for more details. Would you be interested in coming up this way to get them, or is shipping necessary?

Its almost ready for paint now, but the picture was when I got the car down to bare metal. A lot of straightening had to happen, it wasn't as perfect as we initially thought.

I would love to get a quick tour of the restoration shop, I will drop by and check it out. And you are welcome to see the m30 swap, it's not on the road yet but close.

        E30 Touring Update

        So!

Changes have come about. I was given a perfectly working M52 and instead of dropping it into my car I decided to take the crank from it.

I then plan to use 130mm rods, and either find some nice custom pistons, or just use standard 325i pistons. I have decided I do not want to crest the 10+ compression levels. I have many reasons for this, but I am content on somewhere in the mid-9's.

Have put my engine build and black touring aside, so I can finish all the work on my Red E30 Touring and then sell it. This will all be happening in the next few weeks. Have many photos of the progress I have made, but still lack the ability to understand how Flickr and this form meet each other. So in short - photos, its almost done.

Part of the proceeds for my red touring sale, will go into something rather exciting. (atleast I think so)
        *CARBS*
        Three of them;D
        Weber 45's to be specific.

I have been heavily researching into fuel injection and while it makes sense and I like it, I can't get my mind away from how much I love the weber 40's on my friend/employers 1970 Porsche 911 with a stroked 2.7. He literally built the car from scratch, as he received it as a shell with a engine block. 12-years ago he built the motor into a 2.7 and bought new carbs. He has nothing but amazing things to say about the reliability, performance and tune-ability. I understand you can do all this stuff with more success on mega-squirt, but I love the idea of not having much in the way of a wiring harness, and mechanically controlling what happens. I am young at 26, so I have little understanding of carb tuning, but I am being mentored by two carb masters who are both 30+ years in the industry.

I feel it would be special to make a touring like this. I also need to state that financially it doesn't make much sense, but I can afford to make this choice. I am curious if anyone else has had experience making a M20 in the same way. Please let me know how you all feel! I am all ears. Thank you!

        Currently where it's at
        -M20 block
        -M52 crank
        -325e rods
        (undecided pistons)

        Schrick 284/272 cam
        1mm over sized valves

        Bav auto headers
        Stromung Cat Back

Im not the most educated with this but when I was making my stroker with a m52 crank, I got custom pistons and with that was able to use b25 rods. Cant remember much now but the 5mm extra length was some type of benefit, or so I was told.

Also, I have Bav auto headers and they are delightful.

Thank you so much for the Stroker Checklist. It seems likely that I will be going of the over-bore pistons. Great checklist.

I am quite interested in seeing if anyone has built a M20 with carbs that wasn't in a race car, or in a 2002. I would love to know if running the basic electronic bits like gauge cluster, and fan controls will only come forth after serious modifications. I would love to make my touring work as though it came from the factory on the inside.

The bonus is my car came from the factory with manual windows and sunroof, although it would be amazing to keep central locking. Hopefully I can use the wiring charts from my Bentley manual to arrange everything. I do not want to make anything half ass on this build.

The kit on Adams auto sport says they use weber 40's. Does anyone know why 40's would be better then 45's on this application?

Thank you for all who contribute.
