    Another Turbo M20 E30

    09/05/2018
Got a new set (to me) of wheels for the e30. I had been searching day in and day out for a proper set of wheels for the car wanted either futuras, Rs's, or Azevs type A's. Most wheels where 5x120 and didn't really want to do a 5lug swap and one lucky day I stumbled upon these on the UK Ebay. 17x9.5(f) and 17x10(r) in 4x100 I did not think twice about pulling the trigger. I had to add 15mm spacers to the front because the wheel was touching the coilover when I lowered it to the current height, and the rear still needs to come down about another half inch.

Hey guys I just want to introduce myself I finally got my hands on an E30 after lusting for one for years. Its a 1989 325i I bought from a good friend of mine who bought it and built it and lost interest in it as it was one of his many project cars. The mod list is fairly extensive (turbo, mspnp2, ground control coilovers, wasted spark, etc..) but still far from done. I plan to keep this car for quite some time and already started doing some work on it. Ive owned various other BMW's but nothing compares to the joy of driving this car.

Here are some of the previous cars I've had.

2011 135i (FBO, Airride, wheels) my early stancy days lol

2013 335i (FBO, coilovers, BBS RSII's) Had a lot of fun with this car although the slowest from the bunch it was probably my favorite.

2010 335i - I currently own this car as well upgraded turbo n54 with all supporting mods this car is a monster.

Onto the e30 the day I picked it up.

Got rid of the hideous oem wheel and replaced it with a wheel from Renown

Got rid of the amber up front, switched back to the chrome kidneys and installed euro headlight grills.

and a few other random pictures. I have many plans for the car the current turbo on it just failed so I have a PT5858 on the way for it.

I'm glad to finally be able to be a part of the r3v community cheers to all.

great car history. that 135i would be so beautiful if the back wheels were on straight. ;) i seriously have wanted one of them for a long time. also a big fan of those 52 wheels. welcome to the club.

Thank you! As for the 135i's rear wheel looking broken it was the wide lens angle. Here is a roller the rear camber was very subtle actually.

I also had a 135i and an E92 335i, loved that car, didn't keep it long though, and the 135i was well loved but cheated me in the end, so I sent it to carmax to die.

Welcome to E30 ownership, looking forward to seeing what you have in store for it!

Did some work to the car this weekend. I pulled out the old turbo to make way for the pt5858 coming in this week. The oil feed line is way too long so I have to fittings on the way to shorten to proper length. The oil drain line was fairly sloppy so I have new fittings and line to replace that as well. While the turbo is out I will replace the spark plugs and wires and modify the oem wire braket to run them back to the coils. I also ordered a PTP lava turbo blanket and lava wrap for the downpipe to manage the heat under the hood. Everything should come in this week so I am hoping to tackle the install next weekend if time permits.

I spy some AC lines and a compressor! As another Texan, I'm very curious about your intercooler setup if your AC works.

Does your head have supporting mods as well?

You have great taste in cars

First, who makes the wheels? I’ve been looking for something that is not the stock bottle caps and is 4 lug?

Second, do you have plans to go 5 lug, considering you have a turbo setup?

Thanks for the kinds words! The head was resurfaced and has arp studs, the a/c was working when my buddy originally bought the car but he did have it parked for a long time and its currently not working. Once I get a few things sorted out I plan on getting the a/c working. Ill get some pictures of the intercooler charge piping.

The wheels are Formula TR's made by fifteen52. They are made in a 16x8 and 16x9 but the car is on 16x9 squared setup. I do plan on doing a 5 lug swap eventually.

                              I'd definitely appreciate that!

Nice to hear about the head, as I move closer to turbo dreams I've been thinking more about how necessary HD rocker arms and a turbo cam are. I'm getting the feeling that as long the rev limiter isn't being pinged incessantly the stock rocker arms hold up fine.
