Your mention of a G60 makes me shudder.

With pleasure, or with fear? There's no middle ground with the G60 motor, you either love them or hate them.

Oh but they did have good and bad qualities. Forged cranks and great pistions but miserable and overly complex G-laders. Swap the G-lader for a T3 or T4 turbo and you've got a great engine.

The g60 shocks are 4" shorter than our shocks in length! the only problem is fabricating the nut rings to screw into the e30 strut because they are different than the VW..

except that i have yet to see a turbo conversion run well on the stock digi, you need to do a standalone conversion for a proper swap. The G60 charger is just fine unless you want huge power. People just need to maintain their cars... far too many G60s are abused and dumped so the next person down the line ends up with all the problems and hates the motor ;)

That's mostly what I've heard. You get these kids that buy one thinking that a factory SC'd motor is going to make all this huge power, and while it does make good power, it's not huge numbers, so these kids are stomping around in them trying to force as much power as they can out of them.

yup and these cars are 15-16 years old.. they need maintenance.. plus the G60 was never meant to be driven on forever without rebuilding it, service interval is 60-80k and VW never acknowledged it or even trained their techs how to do it. You just bought a new charger when it blew up... for $2200 :( Good thing the aftermarket stepped up and can service them :)
