    First e30 - a very clean '88 325ix

been on the look for one for years and found a very clean one in Boulder and picked it up a few weekends ago and drove it back.

First modification I've done is relocate the driver's seat back a few inches (i'm pretty tall). Still need to figure out how to extend the steering wheel. Next will be a general refresh, suspension, and eventually the gutless m20.

Looks like a solid car. I have the same model, color and everything. Just today, I replaced the entire front suspension. Struts, control arms, tie rods, fcabs , both front axles, etc. Car rides like new!

I'm actually interested in how you move the seats further back.
I'm also pretty tall (2.04m or 6ft8). I don't have any problems with head room only that my knees seem to be kind of in the way of the steering wheel..

Haha, 6'5" here. I'm considering getting a smaller 370mm steering wheel for a little more room for my legs. I'd also love to be able to lower my seat another 2" as my head skims the roof.

            I wouldn't say the M20 is gutless...

I'm 6'6" and typically do a smaller steering wheel, slight spaced out.

What setup so you use to space it out? I've been considering either aftermarket wheel, adapter, and a quick release or a deep dish wheel and adapter.

The second picture I posted was the brackets I made. Basically some shallow c-channel from home Depot, and drilled two sets of holes to match the pattern on the bottom of the seats (12.25 inches apart). I moved the seat back 3 inches.

How do you mount it the seat back to the new rail?

I bolted the bracket to the mounts in the floor and then bolted the seat to the second set of holes in the bracket. Here's a picture of the seat in the car on the brackets.

Great looking car! Where did you get the control arms from? I've started to collect my list of maintenance parts and the only ones of those I've found for the ix are really expensive ($400 a piece).
