I have heard that the verts. are not quite the twisty masters that the hard tops are..But, i've never driven a vert. very hard, so it's all hear say.

Looks like a decent find. I wish I had a 5spd! Converts are great, you'll love it more and more as time goes on, especially if you have another car (trust me, I've owned mine 9 years now.) I would think you could find a nice set of weaves until you decide what you want to do with regard to rims. Keep up the detail work and keep us posted.

We made a little progress today. Jenny continued her assault on dirt while I cleaned and conditioned the rear seat for installation.

I picked up some Meguiars Black Gold Leather Cleaner & Conditioner and figured I could use it to clean the leather (it was really dirty) and soften it just a bit. I was very wrong; this stuff SUCKED. It was in a normal bottle with a flip top but came out as a thick paste. I rubbed it into the leather as directed and it turned the leather a dark ashy color, then it wouldn't rub off. I used a toothbrush and went with the grain of the leather then wiped the crap off but it was a pain in the ass. Overall results from 1-10, I'd vote three or four, though I guess it did clean them. I suppose that's alright, I'd like to re-dye them when I get the funds.

I went ahead and re-installed the rear panels and the seat. I was really surprised how good the rear panels looked, especially with the clean carpet and seats.

After that I went ahead and cleaned up the center consoles as best I could. I'm going to replace the emergency brake console when I get a chance, it's beginning to crack and peel.

After that I don't really have too much left to do on the interior, aside from re-dye the seats as I mentioned. It's really cleaned up nice, in my opinion. I emptied half a bottle of febreeze which seemed to alleviate the smell of cigarettes.

Here's my current list of things I need to fix/purchase/replace. If anyone has any of the stuff they'd like to get rid of cheap, let me know. I'll probably pick up a lot of the tidbits from Mr. Funk when I see him tomorrow.

          Suspension
          Exhaust leak
          Oil change
          Emergency brake console
          OBC backlight
          Radio code
          Shift boot
          Shift boot bushing
          Steering wheel
          Headlight switch bezel
          Emergency brake console nut
Two clips for rear speaker covers
          Intake boot
          Convertible top triangle cover

By the way, can anyone tell me what these two wires are for?

Those 2 wires are probably for a lighted ///M shifter

The two wires are for the back-up lights. It connects to the wires just peeking out from under the black nut. Good luck with the car.

Looking foward to seeing some plastics or eu metal bumpers would look better on it.

Nice find, gonna keep the 5 spokes, they look good on it for period wheels.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. Hopefully Saturday I'll get the exhaust sorted and *possibly* detail the exterior, depending on time.

Joey, this car needed you badly.

PS, can I let you borrow my cabbie for a week?

Nah, the darker carpet is where the rear seat used to cover it up. It is actually very plush.
