My New Beater. (Caution: no E30's here!)

Okay, so I've been looking for a beater so that I can park my TURTL3 in the garage and do the S50 swap, suspension, etc.
I drove and almost bought two separate 89 Toyota Supras, I drove an E34 525i, and looked at a 98 Beetle (for the wife, of course). I was getting pretty fed up and frustrated, so yesterday, after I looked at the 2nd Supra, I bought a Carolina Bargain Trader. Looked through the cheapo ads, saw a couple prospects (BMWs) and then started looking through the picture ads. Came upon an '87 535 I.S. BMW, and the picture kinda confirmed the "is" status (sport seats, air dam, spoiler, tightened suspension), but since it was spelled that way, I knew that the owner was not an enthusiast. It said "very fast, 5 speed, $1800". So I called him up to see what was up, he described the car and I went to see it today. It is really rough, but I decided that I could bring it back to at least "beater" status. I gave him $1200, which was probably about 400 too much, but he looked like he needed the money. It drives pretty nice, but there are several issues that need to be addressed. It threatened to quit on me after we stopped to get something to eat, but we got it home.

    (whew)
    Enough talking, onto the pics.

The rear window almost looks like a 7 series from the late 80's.

Because it's a rectangle and it's made out of glass?

Car was originally "diamondschwartz metallic" Lots of overspray and the like.
and the car has serious tune issues, and a couple electrical gremlins to boot.
              I'm down, though.
