That is true.. And knowing me it will happen some time down the road. I can't keep any thing stock for long. So far the only car that i've kept stock is my Grand National. Also keep an eye out in the parts for sale section, when i'm done with this swap i'll have some stuff for sale like; M20 LT headers, M20 oil pan, oil cooler, radiator only 6-8 mounths old, and a lighted shift knob( the one with the ///M in the middle of the shift pattern. And some other stuff that i see that someone would want. -
have fun. You can always swap in a firebreathing SBC at a later point.Leave a comment:

-I didn't lke the idea at first but at least it's unique... and the cam and ported head will help TONS with the weak 305. I say GM LSx+T56 but whatever

I'm not that big on the handling of a car. I learned to drive with cars from the 60's and 70's and you know how they handled. I'm wondering about the extra weight on the front and the springs that i have on it now. It may sit too low and i may have to put stock springs on it. And thanks blunt, I will gain some more fabrication skills on this project. But i am building a monster for the street/ strip. 72 Vega with a 383 stroker, .600 solid lift roller cam, 1.5 harland sharp roller rockers, world product heads with 2.05 1.95 valves, fully ported and polished and have been flowed on a bench i can't remember the number's off hand right now, 850cfm carb, milidon gear drive, 5300stall torq converter, 350turbo trans, 4.56 gears. And this is going in a car that weighs less then an e30. If this was a "i" or "is" i would proboply leave it alone. And not do a motor swap.Leave a comment:

dude good for you. yes thats a piece of shit motor but you are doing a v8 swap on the cheap and gaining shitloads of fabrication skill you can then use to build a fucking monster when funds permit and you have the right shit. fuck all these guysLeave a comment:

Even if you do make power out of that, your putting a shitload of weight up front thats going to kill the handling characteristics of the car. I dont see the power your going to make able to justify the added weight.Leave a comment:

You can make mucho power with that... my dads 68 truck hauls ass and it wieghs more than twice an e30.Leave a comment:

This is why i like this site, no one holds back what they think. I'm still going to put the 305 in it, with work they do make good power. SchnellerVert is right about the cars this motor came in. They was heavy, under geared, and had a crappy cam, that's why they was slow. This is the same argument about these motors on the GM/f-body forums, The people who never had them say that they are weak. And the people who had them or has got one now are woundering why people are making a big fus about the no power where all you have to do is a simple cam swap . And as far as aftermarket parts go, it's a sbc the stroke is the same as a 350 but the 305 has a smaller bore. Every thing on a 350 will bolt to this motor. I just can't go overboard on the valve size cause of the small bore on the 305.Leave a comment:

302 Ford also has the distributor in front so you might be able to push the engine back towards the firewall more.

5.0 Ford Because there are more of them out there to use, there are more aftermarket products for that motor vs the 305, and they produce more power.
Dont swap motors cause you have something laying around, thats rediculous, replace it with a motor that will make the car fast. This thing will make it th 45mph a little quicker than the ETA motor, but everything aside from that will be about the same or less than the performance of the BMW motor.
But hey, goodluck with the engine swap.Leave a comment:

Worthless slugs in the pig car the engine came from not so bad in a 800 pound lighter E30. Do I like swap no, do I care, No but hey have it at, plenty of hp that cheap from the aftermarket out there for GM V8's.

You need more than a flame suit, you need serious help.
Take that heavy paper weight to a metal yard and get the $$ for it, then go buy yourself a beer to celebrate your return to sanity.Last edited by sumyungguy; 03-25-2007, 11:33 PM.Leave a comment:
