    so the project begins...

well it all started when i traded by 90 vw passat for a 91 325i. My whole intentions for the 325 was to eventually be getting a motor swap and a turbo i already had for it, but my 88 325ix was going into the body shop two days later so i needed something to drive for a couple weeks so i wanted to leave it fairly unmodded untill i had my daily back.Well it needed exhaust on it so i took it to the exhaust shop and the seal was cracked unknowingly to me on the aftermarket FPR i had installed.Well it started a small fire under the hood at the exhaust shop but it did no damege so i braught my stock one back up and installed it and all was well, or so i thought.I drove it home and was stoked about have it running and all sounding good so i parked in the driveway and got to working in my shop on the ix, but had to run to the store. So i got back in the 91 and pulled out of the driveway and made it about 10 feet and my fuel line burst right over my alternator... I.E ignition source.. i couldnt see a thing and ended up stoping in my neighbors driveway between there lexus and the other neighbors mercedes :-\ . Well i jumped out ripped off my hoodie i had on and started to beat the fire with it (now i know to just smother it if its a chemical fire but i guess i paniced) well my front pocket in my hoodie had my brand new just opened pack of smokes in it and my wallet. now after the beating the fire session just didnt work(about 30 seconds or so) i sprinted towards my house, yelled for my mom to run and hit the garage opener, and she did but wasnt fast enough so i kinda flipped over the side gate kicked in the side door to my shop and grabbed the extinguisher jumped on the hood of my ix and jumped over the top and slid down the back window, rolled out under the now partially open door and sprinted down the ddriveway while tearing off the stupid safety tag. Now by the time i got to the end of my driveway i could see my car in the neighbors driveway two houses down and the flames were about 4 feet over the top of the open hood... so i continued to sprint over and one tiny squirt and it was all out. After i rested for a sec.. i needed a darn smoke... so i felt my pockets..and as i did i noticed about 5 broken clean off cig. buts on my windshield and engine... then i noticed the pack, not one cig. made it every single filter snapped clean off and the rest broken to peices, as for my wallet it had melted plastic on it and was wedged between the exhaust manifolds on the opesite side of the car from me. and thats the storyof this car and how it pretty much eternally pissed me off. :-D
oh and to add insult to injury i tried to fix it, new fuel line and misc. and i guess the fire got under the cover to the timing belt :( so i guess the motor swap is going to come sooner than later 8)

well onto some pics right?to start off ill show how it started and the damage first.

    bubbled hood paint

    THE SUCK!

side of the fire(1 airbox isnt suppoed to sit like that and 2 look at the diagnostics plug see the melted plastic)

    melted hood liner

    melted misc.

    close up of melted misc.

burnt FPR vac. line and coolent temp sensor wires

    project side view

project front view(notice the bubbled paint and isht on the hood )

    some holset action (top view)

    holset side view

    some mandrel action

some nitrous action (turbo cooler and intercooler sprayer..maybe motor not sure yet)

    some extra flare pipe

some dinan action (might be for sale, not sure if im going to use it or my ITG setup)

some sparco action(can anyone help me with this, i had one in my old yellow rabbit and it sat in the sun and backed the yellow into the seat. My Q' does anyone know of a die i can use or anything?):(

well i did a little more to the car since those pics so ...

official ride hight/rims/tires/ and if you look close the sparco's are mounted in(custom made brackets)
yes the car will be getting bagged nothing like full ride hight/dampening adjustablity at the push of a button;)

soon it will have a full custom wire harness im making(no more fuses all brakers)
running a full megasquirt-n-spark system in it.
im also going to be running a methynol/alcahol injection system from >
Methanol Injection, Alcohol Injection, Water Injection, DevilsOwn

projected wheel power of about 5-700

im probably not going to stick with the M50 for too long just as a "test fit & test wireing misc." engine, then im looking into the S52 or somthing a little bigger for the long term motor, my goal is to have it hit a 750whp eventually

    totalled...sad sad day....

wait so all of this turbo-bagging-two tone paint is on the 325i not the ix right? looks to be interesting seems like modificatons that would have been done to a japanese car like a civic or something

yes its all going on the 325i not the ix, im still unsure if i want to go with a 3.1 stroker or a t3/t4 kit on the 325ix
well i might do coilovers but im still unsure, mainly doing bags so i can do some ride hight adjusting when needed like at the track when putting slicks on it.

and how the hell does it sound like some honda bullshit..???
its a turbo m50 with a cage and nitrous, the nitrous might just be getting used as a turbo cooler and intercooler sprayer to cool IAT.

Lemme know how it goes w/ baggin the front of it, cuz I can't figure out how in the hell to run shocks as well as bags, cuz I'm figurin it'll need cans or some strut bags, but can't find strutbags for the front of e30's. The back looks really easy to bag tho w/ the holes and all in the trailing arms already there. Good luck w/ that.

Here is a link to the front struts. U have to cut the stock housing and weld the air strut to them. But they fit great had them on a touring in germany.http://www.airbagit-store.com/produc....asp&ID=102319

Um, I'd never buy from that company. They ripped me off 3 years ago and wen we called their customer service we got told by then(both my dad and I seperate conversations) that our 66 chevy truck came w/ disc brakes, and they sent up the right spindles and our truck never had drum brakes up front... I've never heard of a story that went good in any lowered car or truck community from that company.
Strutbags I know about, but they don't make any for e30's from any company w/ any sort of a reputation that I've seen, unless the honda ones will fit e30.

Nice, I just might, the front end I'm curious about, the back end on an e30 looks easy. my truck club, the president has been tryin 2 talk me into baggin the e30 for a few years now, he had a bagged honda in auburn.

Definitely interesting. Please post up what you think of the bags on the track, if you decide to go that route.

I've heard of people having serious problems with them (on the street), but then I dont really know much about em, so whatever.

I really dont see whats the point of going with bags if its all track car??? coilover would make so much more sense

well for some cars bags will help it handle better. they did a test on some muscle cars. The ones with air handled better. As for the E30 kit from AIM, I have had this kit on a touring in germany. and i had no problems with them.

Well i have a few friends that have now talked me into a set of coilovers instead, so what is the BEST coilover setup on the market for an E30 right now? and also the one that has to most adjustability + dampening adjustability? i REALLY wanted a set of KW V3's but they dont make them for an E30 i had a set on my old race car and loved them to death (77 volks rabbit)

my goal is to be able to sit at the ride hight below and be able to have about a 1" drop ability from there so im not maxing out the drop on the setup and also be able to raise it about an inch if need be. Oh and dont worry about the fender issue... it'll be a little "wider" soon:woowoo: . Now onto a few pics of some new goodies.....

Well i decided the 18's just werent going to cut it.. so i decided to get some new kicks for her. what do you guys think a little bit of an upgrade? (now remember the car is sitting in the driveway with no motor or anything just sitting and waiting for the new heart transplant to be put in which is sitting in my shop waiting :finger: )
Borbet type T's in 16X9 with 215/40/ZR16's on them and with a fair amount of stretch

and a few hints as to the new temporary heart>>>
