Sorry I was away, the picture above is HOT! lol

Well, I looked at one 325i and it was pretty clean but the A/C wasn't cold so I am still looking. How expensive is it to fix a/c ?

Depends on what's wrong with it. It could just be a freon leak and the system would need to be recharged, in which case it wouldn't cost too much.

If it's leaking, wouldn't you normally fix the leak, and then recharge it? I <3 our ozone layer. AC parts aren't cheap, and it's even worse when you pay someone else to fix it.

considering most e30s run off r12, it wont be as easy as recharging it.

I meant to say fix the leak, too. :)

i just got my A/C serviced.

it was blowing cold for about 1 minute, than hot (room temp) air.:hitler:

turns out, i had contaminants in the system, and needed a new dryer-receiver.

re-used the pound and a half of my freon, and 550bucks later its cold (27degrees) again.

freon is love in a can:p.
                          keep it if you can.
when maintained, it will last a decade or more of cool driving conditions.

                          btw, welcome to the board.

It could be as easy as a schrader valve on the lines. They tend to go bad. If it is something major I know a conversion that will be affordable.

I don't have a lot of pictures on the computer, here are a couple.

the 1989 black 325is's are a personal favorite. (the options are the best)

BUT lets not put the carriage before the horse.
what you want in a e30 is

                              timing belt history. (and maintenance)
                              options=
                              - mtech 1 or mtech 2 types (soo nice;))
                              - LSD differential (4.10 is most favorable)
                              - recaro sport seat package
                              - ellipsiod lights (88-89)
                              - torq bolts on the head (look inside the oil filler cap w/flashlight)
                              - plastic bumpers look nicer (89+) but alloy are more durable and can be tucked)
                              - houndstooth interior (rare) and of course a non-smoker)
                              - a NON "fram" oil filter (if you see one "slap them", and run away)

                              than its your own choice.
like the "e" vs. "i" cars.
one with a freon A/C system would be preferable (to me)
one withOUT airbags are also preferable to me (since they must be serviced every 10 years $$)

the cabrios and m3's are awesome, the is's are also great, those will have a higher re-sale value.

the cabrios come with automatic tops (*prone to breaking $$$) and manual tops. (manual is preferred by most, as the plastic motor is spendy)
ALSO the soft tops come with 2 rear windows
                              1- zip in (easily replaced)
                              2- sewn in ( pita)

all the e30s with sun-roofs come with auto or roll back types, the autos are preferred.

if you find one with minor flaws. just talk the price down. its a buyers market for these old (awesome) cars to people who will miss them when they're gone.
so, if they dont have the t/belt history, than subtract 500 bucks.
Hex bolts on the head, subtract another 300 bucks
no A/C (its as much as 1500) well, its up to you.

                              make sure everything works too
                              Fan _+_heat/A/C
                              Wipers
                              antennae
                              horn
                              cruise control
dash lights (and overhead trouble lights)
                              side mirror motors

                              however,
windows not working are most likely a simple switch, but its great when they work.

and the feeling you get from the buyer.
really i would prefer to buy from an enthusiast, but with that will go the premium price.

always ask "WHY are you selling"

and when you find one, keep your records.

                              just my
                              have fun too.
