    My 1986 Mtechnik-1 328IS

6 years into the making, 4 years of parts sourcing, and 1 trip to Germany to create an original early model sport package E30.

This build was not to create a Concours' car, but to create a drivers car that maintains its primary purpose of being out of the garage, and not a garage queen.

Many after market components were utilized throughout the construction, however any OEM BMW components were used before going outside the realm. For instance for Oil temp monitoring, an E30 M3 Gauge Cluster has been used. Instead of an after market custom black headliner, the OEM 91 318is headliner was used and installed.

The car was taken apart completely in 2006 and work began, repairing rust holes, dents, and any other factory/wear and tear issues. The antenna hole, as well as the rear qtr seams were removed to maintain an overall clean look.

Work continued until the end of 2006, when a issue with the motor caused another step to be taken. Currently powered by a 10.0:1 2.85L M20 w/ a Shrick 284/272 cam, it provides me enough entertainment, while maintaining a proper era specific motor.

Here are pictures of the car, finally in what I call a completed state. Next is the R3VLimited Pro3 Race car Project, which will allow me to track a car I don't mind writing off.

SWEET car. Badass stance, and one of the first Mtech-1 cars I've seen where everything really works together like it's supposed to. Well done.

Hey man, looked killer out there today. Early model E30 FTMFW! We need to do another Tacoma meet before the end of summer.

        Things I like:

Attention to detail with regards to using BMW parts.
        Smoothed body and kit
        OBC delete
        glovebox latch delete
        M3 cluster
        Heated seats
        M3 hoodliner

        Things I don't:

Chrome around windows. Sports didn't have these (at least UK and NZ markets didn't, unsure of germany :D )
Chrome bumpers - its a tough one, but with the subtle body mods, i reckon body colour bumpers would be titties.
        black mirrors.
Retention of washer nozzles and no apparent washer bottle?

Overall, I love it James, and it's a seriously sweet car, just needs an M88 now :D

Is that one piece liner not an M3 item? Whats the difference between the 3 piece one and the item James has then? Assumption and all...

Most m20s came with it, I haven't seen one for 318i though (I wish there was one though).

Good stuff Criv, this is very good stuff.

What kind of corrosion did you end up having to repair?

Other than the bumper tuck what ya do? You gotta be careful, some say it doesn't matter, but pushing those diving boards in to me seems dangerous.

Those bumpers are not tucked, those are Euro bumpers that give me a boner every time i see them
