Nope. I'm a Subaru nut, and I always have been. This is my first car that isn't a Subaru, so I'm trying to transition slowly. Plus I just really like the overly expensive, poorly engineered and sub-par antiquiated design of an AWD E30.
Didn't your mother teach you any manners? Go away.
Didn't your mother ever teach you manners?
Say Please! :p
And don't lie to yourself... the iX AWD is so far inferior to anything produced today, it's about as useful as a plain RWD car(just with worse mpg/more drivetrain loss, and more "special" breakable parts). (IMHO). You've already got a great AWD car..!
To be honest, I actually agree with you that it's inferior to anything produced today (or anything produced by Subaru since the early 80's, for that matter). In fact, I had this same exact conversation over on BimmerForums a few months back. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=714323&
I know there are much better AWD cars out there, but I can still appreciate my iX for what it is. I like driving the car, and I like working on it. The MPG isn't any worse than my Subaru, and the "special," breakable parts have yet to cause me any problems.
I don't understand why everyone thinks iX drivetrains are so fragile. Sure, transfer cases fail every now and then, but unless you neglect to maintain it, and abuse the hell out of it, it SHOULD last a very, very long time.
If I were your average driver buying the car to commute in a snowy part of the country, I could see where you're coming from. But I'm not your average driver, and I don't intend to pay a shop to fix my car. I prefer the iX for its individuality, and I enjoy owning a neat, AWD BMW from the 80's. So there!!!
When people start shit with me, they end up having to read really boring, long-winded rants about nothing. See? ^
I love Kellie, in a totaly non-emotional/physical/internet/societal/universal sort of way because she doesn't get all uppity and grumpy for no reason. She's able to see the sarcasm/instigationary tone of my posts and gracefully step right over. ;)
I have been nothing but impressed with every Subaru I've ever driven... in the snow/rain. The only one I absolutely hated was that abomination they called the SVX or whatever it was? I have to say I even enjoyed the Impreza 2.5 over the A4Quattro I drove back to back.
...and fwiw, when you get parts at cost and can do all your own maitenance with a full shop at your disposal... it sure as heck makes life a lot easier owning one of those "silly special" cars. I couldn't afford my M3 if I didn't have those priveledges.
