so far ive replaced the waterpump, fan clutch, alternator, cap and rotor, hoses, alt belt and thats about it...car runs pretty good and likes to get beating up on..one thing i have found that sucks is that it kinda hiccups and stutters on occasion...usually when i first start it in the morning on my way to work at 530am...it did this yesterday and this morning. i think its a vacuum leak, i found one on my distributor and fixed it...and then it ran perfect...but now it will do it on occasion...and i cant seem to pinpoint where its at. i have read that people have had similar problems just not sure what it may be and where and how different it is with different engines. i need to go buy some starting fluid and try to pinpoint but its weird cause today, on my way home from work (and yesterday) it ran great....without this problem. im stumped. what could it be? it seems like it runs different when its cold in the morning and warmer in the afternoon.

Not a great deal but you did better than I did with my first e30 (also 318i)! Good luck with it :pMtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

i got my '87 325is in trade for about 200 bucks worth of bike parts and labor. red, 5spd, runs, drives, straight body, needs cosmetic love, its the beater that takes over when the S4 dd is out of commision. i'd call that a good deal for a first e30. good luck with the new project.Originally posted by DozyproductionsYou know why you're drinking that Pabst? No its probably not because it was the first beer you grabbed. It's because you're a winner.Comment

I hate all of you. No good deals for me. I paid 3,300 for the one I'm driving right now. I guess that's what I get for buying an e30 and being a n00b all at once. :('89 325i track sloot

im pretty sure my problem is my main relay...it sounds like its about to explode hah, its weird cause it only does it everyone in awhile...is it easy to take these main relays apart to clean them? that may help me temporarily, which would be nice as opposed to buying a brand new one which hmmm runs me about $225 from the dealer! yikes...
whiltebeitel.....look at it this way...i have a 100hp m10...and you have a donno the hp rating 325i....and plastic bumpers...your car is a tid bit nicer then mine ;-)
bottom line, when buying a car, keep looking for the better deal. never impulse buy unless you are absolutely sure of what you are getting is a good deal. ive learned that lesson a few times and each time i get a little better, hahae30s r koolComment

three weeks ago I bought this '85 318i 5sp;

For $300.
All it "needed" was an exhaust manifold. Which set me back $50. I've dropped another $100 on random odds and ends to make it perfect(enough).
