Im not a fan of stuck up roadies either. thats why i ride vintage steel. People are alot nicer when they see a kid riding a 70's schwinn.

I don't understand how a e30 fan would want a road bike.

Because it was free.... and a steel 70s schwinn frame is soooo hot when you roll up beside another bike that cost more than most e30s but is "atleast 10 lbs lighter" than your free schwinn lol.

i feel my old mountain bike will hold a 1200 watt motor with 50lbs of batteries (just need about 2 miles of range to get to the liquor and groc store haha

I have a old mountain bike, one from before they invented shocks. It SUCKS riding to/from town compared to the roadie~ even though it weighs less

If you need to get a DH bike because you are afraid of looking gay, I think you have other fish to fry.

I ride both on and off road, and I really fail to see why it matters what surface you're riding on.

its great for training. I play hockey pretty often so the fixed gear keeps me in shape, definitely more of a workout than a geared bike. Also helps cadence, but that's already been mentioned.

After riding my fixed bike for so long, I don't like riding with gears. you don't feel the same connection with the bike

bianchi Pista's are so played out.

I'm yet to see anyone in the western new york area with my frame. it's an '01. A lot of people hate on the chrome ones, as they are everywhere. but this frame came out 5 years before that one did.

pistas are great because of the cost efficiency. I wouldn't buy a stock pista, and I didn't because I knew I'd just upgrade everything anyway. but for those who don't want to spend $700 +the labor of having someone else assemble it, it works perfect.

I picked up just the frame. white cromo fork, sugino crankset w/165mm crank arms, mks pedals and clips, celese velocity deep v wheels, syntace bullhorns, etc.

Been riding for 28 years, used to be a cat II for brief time in the 80's.

I still ride my older steel classics, love them but for Crit's for those that can remember them I had a nice old Cannondale 2.8. Yes old skool.

This is true, i should have put that in my response(i dont want to offend anyone). But i cant tell you how many people i have talked to riding fixies and have no idea why. They just saw a friend riding one, or heard about them, so they got one.

I ride a trek 4300 disc everyday to school. I like it. gears FTMFW. I went from a Haro Backtrail (hence the name) BMX bike to a mt bike ... sooo much better for transportation.

i mainly ride mountain. i generally hate roadies, as they have left a bad taste in my mouth. fat old men who spend high dollars, bitch about everything under the sun, but cant ride for shit.

ive got a trek fuel ex8 which is blinged to the max with chris king hubs/headset for all my urban assult and mtn needs. it may be for sale soon as well.

I also ride mtn, i ride a specialized Hardrock. It was pretty much a base model, but i wanted hardtail, its just more fun to me.

It would be a lot easier to maintain, that's the only advantage I can think of.

They claim its for weight and simplitcity. i think its just another case of follow the leader. i built one awhile back to see what it was all about, ill take my 10spd's.

Does anyone have a Specialized Allez, I am looking at one now but don't know if it's a triple or double bike. It has a black crank and deraileur.

I have a specialized allez. But I'm not sure what you mean by double or triple. Talking about the front sprockets? If so, it's got three.

It's a great bike by the way. I rode it a lot last year, and then I went to Iowa and rode it across the state in August for RAGBRAI. Made the 500 mile trip with no problems at all. Depending on how much you ride, there are going to be some things you will want to buy for it. I put a trip computer, shimano clip in pedals with the shoes, and a different seat on it.
