I don't think the fact it's rigid makes it uncomfortable. I guess daily driving a car on linear springs for over a year can do that.
Porsche owners take notice of the fenders long before a fellow BMW owner on the highway, I dig that. :P
Everyone's got different standards for their daily though. I remember when I was into Mitsubishi's I had friends that daily drove cars with every mod available and no interior or sound insulation. They thought it was daily livable.
I'm a wimp personally and I enjoy some creature comforts. It's nice to have your cake and eat it too.
