BMW VDC Center for Western US:NO 56k!!30imgs

Since my Father writes for a few BMW Magazines as a hobby, he gets lots of awesome passes to very cool events(not to mention press passes for the LA Autoshow on the Press Day, which means we get to sit in all the cars they rope off, and talk to VP's of basically any company except Ferrari).

We went to BMW's Vehicle Distribution Center for the Western Region of the US. This includes anything from Germany, South Africa, and South Carolina(X3's and Z4's).

I'll start it off with a few pics of my E30 and his S52 DKII Coupe, and his R1200RT, which is retardedly fast...it actually can out accelerate a stock Honda CBR 650(I have video)....and my Dad's Limited Edition BMW Mountain Bike(Olypmic Edition).

ANYWAYS..enjoy. There are some sick pictures here. Pictures of the cars before a de-wax, and most all of the different inspection lines. About 60% of the cars here have already been purchased(from what the different tour people said). They only do these tours every two years(if you are lucky).

    Enjoy, there are 30 images:

Hope everyone enjoyed the pics. I'm still getting the hang of my Nikon D70s SLR, but I think I'm getting there.

Awesome pics. Do you mean for them to come out with that darkish tinge? I like it, just wondering.

Yes. I like pictures that are slightly desaturated, but still have lots of detail..it's something you don't see everyday and I like it a lot; reminds me of some BMW ad's.

Why were they painting parts? Do many cars get damaged in shipping?

Cool pics. must be nice to go to those events.

                    I like your black bumpers.

Because if something isn't matched perfectly, scratched, or has anything not-perfect on it, it is totally restored to perfection, basically.

It is common for cars to get damaged in shipping. I've heard of cars getting smashed on the boat on their way over. They also receive cars from European Delivery, and since the customer has been out driving their cars, it gets rock chips etc... they repaint those parts for the customer when they receive it again in the states. At least that is what I was told when I went to the VDC in New Jersey. Except they had Rolls Royces still covered in Cosmoline... fun trip!

                        Nice pics, too!
